Seychelles at a glance

Decisions, decisions. Lie on the beach and relax? Plan a more active itinerary? Visit one island, or two? Maybe three? And which ones? The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands sprinkled across the Indian Ocean. Each has its own special charm. Mahe island, the staging post for the other islands, is home to the capital Victoria, with its large market, as well as the rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park and beaches such as Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka. If meeting people is on your hit list, spend a few days there. Praslin is an explorer's paradise, with the incredible May Valley forest and its sea coconuts. More must-sees are legendary beaches like Lazio and Georgette. In La Digue, discover the Anse Source d'Argent, which might just be one of the most photographed beaches in the world – it's not hard to see why.
Explore wild Silhouette Island and its cloud forest. On Bird Island, witness an avian paradise, and admire the fish, dolphins and whales in the surrounding Indian Ocean before approaching the island's most famous resident: Esmeralda, the oldest giant turtle in the world. He (yup) is more than 200 years old and weighs over 47 stone. See our Seychelles travel guide below for more details.
