Time Difference 

Fiji is 11 hours ahead of the UK (GMT) and does observe daylight saving time, so is 12 hours ahead of the UK from mid-November to mid-January.

Money

The Fijian Dollar (FJD) is the official currency of Fiji. Cash and credit cards are accepted in big cities like Suva, but smaller villages rely on cash. There are plenty of ATMs available.

Electricity 

Standard current is 240 Volts/50 Hz and plug type I is used. We advise you to bring an adapter for all your electrical appliances.

Shops and Amenities 

As a general rule, merchants open from 8am to 5pm on weekdays, and on Saturdays from 8am to 3pm. Many places close for lunch between 1pm and 2pm.

Radio Fiji One and Radio Fiji Two are the top radio stations in Fiji.

Post can take up anywhere from five to seven working days (signed) to eight weeks (economy) to reach the UK.

To make a call from the UK to Fiji, dial: 00 – 679 – area code plus a landline number or 00 - 679 – plus a mobile number. To call United Kingdom from Fiji, dial: 00 - 44 - area code and a landline number, or 00 - 44 – and a mobile number.

Internet and Mobile Coverage 

There are two main phone networks in Fiji: Vodafone and Digicel. Internet in Fiji is good in some places, but can be patchy or non-existent in some of the more remote islands. There should be Wi-Fi in most hotels.
