The latest addition to the Viceroy Hotel collection, Viceroy Maldives is certainly one to rival its Maldivian neighbours. Located in the remote Shaviyani Atoll, it is an hour’s seaplane flight from the capital Malé.

There are a total of 61 bungalows overlooking a lagoon surrounding 17 acres of palm-fringed island. The Beach Bungalows have spacious bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms that open out to a private garden with a further outdoor shower and an oversized plunge pool on a sundeck which then - in most cases - leads directly onto the beach. The Water Villas stretch out over the lagoon, and also have private plunge pools.

You won't go hungry, with five dining venues, including the East African-inspired Treehouse, offering everything from casual beachside cuisine to Pan Asian and European classics, alongside a wine cellar and a private chef's table. The Treehouse itself is the focal point of island life, where guests can relax, enjoy pre and post dinner drinks or smoke a shisha pipe.

The Spa at the Viceroy Maldives consists of seven suites built over the ocean where guests can enjoy everything from massages to hair styling.

For the more active-minded, the house reef caters for divers and snorkelers, there are also a range of watersports such as windsurfing, waterskiing, kayaking, catamaran sailing, wakeboarding and deep sea fishing.

The grown-ups can relax safe in the knowledge that the children will be well looked after. The kid's club organises activities such as kite making, kite flying, shell painting and snorkelling. Baby sitting can also be organised upon request.

Why We Love It

You can hire snorkelling gear for your whole stay and stumble five steps from your bed to plunge into crystal clear snorkelling territory.
