Reason one: May half term holidays might be subject to slightly higher air fares and accommodation rates, but that's as nothing compared to the hikes we parents can all unfortunately expect during the summer holidays or at Christmas. If you're restricting yourselves to one foreign jaunt in our warm(er) months, then why not make it May and staycate in summer? Or you could splash out and do both, of course.
Reason two: May in Europe should be properly glorious without being so hot you have to hop inelegantly across volcanically hot sand to reach the sea, or to slather the children in sheep dip volumes of sunscreen.
Reason three: Some further flung family-friendly destinations are at or near their best - weather-wise - at this time of year, so a May half term family holiday represents an ideal time to fly further afield to destinations such as the Caribbean, Malaysian Borneo and Mexico, especially given the off-prices.
So if you're planning a luxury family May half term holiday with younger children in tow, then remember that much-loved children's party people Sharky & George, who we work with, also put together a box of tricks filled with bits and bobs to keep the children entertained throughout the trip.
We could go on, or you could.
