Ollie and Alexandra are here to help give you the inside track.

This small, adults only hotel is situated just two blocks from Paseo Montejo, which is the main thoroughfare in Merida, lined with boutiques, restaurants and beautiful colonial architecture. The hotel itself is an amalgamation of shaded courtyards, tropical gardens, al fresco seating areas, and colourful hammocks strung up by each guestroom. There's also a small swimming pool in one of the courtyards, and a wonderful roof terrace.

The hotel has just seven guestrooms; Patio Rooms, Balcony Rooms and Garden Rooms. All rooms feature high ceilings, colourful mosaic tiled floors and views of the courtyards, and the Balcony Rooms also feature private balconies. Each colonial style guestroom also features a host of modern amenities, including iPod docking stations, TV's and walk in rain showers.

Breakfast is served at Casa Lacanda, but guests will need to dine out for lunch and dinner. Due to the fantastic location of Casa Lacanda there are plenty of options, but Owner Stefano also owns the wonderful OLIVA Italian restaurant just opposite, which allows guests to enjoy OLIVA's cuisine in the comfort of the hotel grounds. There is also a bar within Casa Lacanda.

Keen foodies may also like to enjoy a cookery class bookable through the hotel, which include a market visit to select the freshest, local ingredients. Aside ambling through the picturesque streets of Merida, guests at Casa Lecanda are within day trip reach of stunning Mayan ruins, the beautiful crystalline waters of underground cenotes, and the Celestun Biosphere Reserve.
