Set atop a private peninsula overlooking the Bay of Islands, and surrounded by 75 acres of sub-tropical native bush and secluded beaches, Eagles Nest hotel is in a fantastic location.
Accommodation is comprised of just five villas, all ultra cool and contemporary, including a one bedroom villa, two three-bedroom villas and two four-bedroom villa. Each is resolutely private and has access to the private beach, as well as all of the mod cons one could ever ask for, as well as a kitchen, swimming pool and a home cinema in the case of most. The queen bee is Rahimoana, which has a gym, sauna, wine cellar, private heli pad, and is set within 44 acres of private land.
Although villas are self contained and do have a fully equipped kitchen, everyone needs a break now and again so make use of the resort's private chefs, who will cook anything from freshly caught seafood to lamb and venison. The hotel also has an extensive wine cellar, and the staff can deliver a cocktail day or night.
With more than 144 islands to explore, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. There are five golf courses nearby and numerous biking and hiking trails, and guests can ride along beaches or volcanic ridges, swim with dolphins, and go sailing. Parasailing and sky diving are on offer for adrenaline junkies, whereas in villa spa treatments may be more suited to those who just want to relax.
Guests staying in the ultra-luxe Rahimoana villa have access to a Porsche throughout their stay, or if helicopter is the preferred mode of transport, park it on the villa's private heli pad.
