New Zealand Passport & Visa Requirements

New Zealand Visa Requirements

British citizens do not need a visa for holidays to New Zealand for stays of up to six months. However, you’ll need to get a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before travelling.

When you apply for your NZeTA, you’ll also need to pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy. Allow up to 72 hours for your NZeTA to be processed; once approved, it’s valid for up to two years.

Passport Validity for New Zealand Travel

Your passport must be valid for the entirety of your stay and have an ‘expiry date’ of at least three months after the day you plan to leave New Zealand.?

Other Key Entry Information

At New Zealand border control, you’ll need to show a return or onward travel ticket and evidence that you have enough money for your stay.

All travellers to New Zealand must complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD), either online or using the NZTD app. Your declaration is linked to your passport and checked when you arrive.

If you’re travelling by air, you can submit your declaration from 24 hours before starting your journey and must do so before reaching passport control in New Zealand. If you’re travelling by sea, you can submit it from 24 hours before leaving your last foreign port and must do so before arriving at your first port in New Zealand.

You must declare any prescription medicines when entering New Zealand.
