Machaba Camp sits on the tree-lined banks of the Khwai River, in a game rich concession of the Delta, overlooking the famous Moremi Game Reserve.
The camp is shaded by Sycamore Fig trees, known locally as Machaba, meaning the Tree of Life. Its rich fruit attracts a fantastic variety of animals, from birds and baboons to elephant and bushbuck, not to mention all the other animals which in turn follow them…
Styled on the original 1950's safari but with a careful selection of modern touches, Machaba is a truly authentic bush camp that doesn't compromise on comfort. The main area is stylish but inviting and a lovely spot to sit back and watch the animals as they journey down to the river.
Accommodation consists of 10 luxury tents, including two family tents, linked by a sandy path along the river and all with en-suite bathrooms, including indoor and outdoor showers, his and hers washbasins and flush loos.
The Khwai area is renowned for its wildlife variety and healthy predator populations including lion, leopard, wild dog and hyena. Its excellent location means it is also able to offer excursions into the famous Moremi Game Reserve.
Activities include day and night drives, guided walks and mokoro trips. And for those looking to experience the local culture, a visit to the local community can be arranged as well. And after all that, take a tip from the resident hippos and have a wallow in the pool.
Machaba offers a perfect blend authenticity and luxury, in a fantastic setting.
