Reopened at the beginning of March 2017, Duba Plains camp has been lovingly refurbished to provide visitors with a more luxurious option in the Okavango Delta, overlooking the floodplains of the 30,000 hectare Kwedi Reserve.
The camp features five large tents, as well as a two bedroom Duba Plains Suite. All of the tents come complete with private plunge pools, large rosewood decks, inside and outside showers, roll-top brass baths and outside sala beds. Both the tents and main lodge utilise a warm colour scheme of deep reds and greys and are furnished with Zanzibar doors and arches from an old Rajastahni castle, creating a traditional and tranquil atmosphere.
The focal point of the camp is undoubtedly the central mess tent which overlooks the floodplains. After a delicious dinner here, swap stories in the lounge area or congregate by the fire pit for drinks under the vast African night sky. The central tent also houses a library, media room and interactive show kitchen.
Amongst the vast open plains and rugged bush of Kwedi Reserve, there have recently been increased sightings of the majestic leopard. Take a game drive from Duba Plains and the experienced guides will help you spot these, plus elephant, hyena, warthog and hippo. Plus, since the camp now offers guests complimentary use of the latest Canon professional cameras - one per tent - guests can capture and download - in the media room - amazingly vivid memories of their safari. For the most scenic views alongside the game viewing, visit between May and early October and see the plains in full flood.
Nestled in between African Ebony and Jackalberry trees, the main tent is a really lovely space to relax and enjoy the stunning views.
