The intimate Duba Explorers Camp sits in the heart of the Okavango Delta on a wooded island. The exclusive camp offers guests the ultimate opportunity for private wildlife sightings and provides the perfect backdrop for living in luxury in the wild.
The Duba Explorers Camp is located in a remote Northern section of the Duba Plains concession, separated from it's sister, Duba Plains Camp, by a deep water barrier. With just six expedition-style tents in total on raised decking overlooking the surrounding ever-changing floodplain, guests can feel totally at one with nature. Each tent features a small desk and private veranda, plus en suite facilities including a flushable loo, double basins and an indoor shower.
The camp's main area comprises an open-concept dining and lounge area, which opens out onto the wilderness of the Okavango. Evenings can be spent around the fire pit reflecting on the day's events and sharing stories over an Amarula.
Activities include early morning and early evening game drives, with regular sightings including herds of kudus, elephants, and hippos happily bathing in the swamps. The distinctive area surrounding the camp, where the watery environment of the islands meet nearby woodland and grasslands allow a good chance of sighting all the big cats, including cheetah, lion, and wild dog. Leopards and nocturnal species such as brown hyena can be sighted during special night game drives. Boat-based activities, including mekoro and canoeing are also available when water levels permit.
Duba Expedition camp is reached by scheduled air transfers or private air charters only, adding an additional element of exclusivity to the experience.
