Situated in the trendy Barranco neighbourhood in Lima, this Arts Boutique Hotel is in a prime location, close to the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by leafy streets and the elaborate architecture of elegant mansions.
Romantic boutique Hotel B consists of two wings; the two-story historic wing which dates back to the early 20th century when it was designed by a French architect as a wealthy family's second residence, and the modern three storey annexe. Surrealist photographs, oil paintings and graphics decorate the mansions romantic interior.
There are 17 individually designed guest rooms divided into three categories, Atelier rooms being the crème de la crème with free standing bath tubs or steam showers, fine wooden flooring and private terraces overlooking the courtyard or city. The Alcoba and Aposenta rooms are an equally good choice, with plush furnishings, eclectic artwork and even a vintage suitcase popped in here or there for good measure.
The hotel offers fabulous Peruvian cuisine by Chef Oscar Velarde, who blends local ingredients with Mediterranean flavours to create authentic Peruvian dishes. All meals are best sampled with a great South American wine, nautrally. The dining room offers the casual atmosphere of a bohemian café, and it is the perfect spot to enjoy a Peruvian 'Lonche', which is where people get together and share recipes and chat at the end of the day. As the evening draws in, be sure to sample a delicious Pisco Sour at the bar.
The historic Barranco neighbourhood is a great base for your time in Lima, boasting its own main square, numerous historic houses and the famous Puente de los Suspiros ( Bridge of Sighs). There are many restaurants, boutiques, galleries and museums within easy reach of Hotel B, too. The Contemporary Art Museum and the Pedro de Osma museum display collections of modern and contemporary art. For more art stop by the Lucia de la Puente, which is home to Lima's most prestigious contemporary art gallery.
