One of the most luxurious resorts in the Maldives, PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi is located half an hour by speedboat from the international airport.
The resort occupies a small island with pristine white-sand beaches and a sparkling blue lagoon. Accommodation consists of villas built either along the beach or on stilts over the lagoon. These come in a variety of different sizes and styles, but all feature freshwater plunge pools and private sundecks with daybeds. All are equipped with the latest modern amenities, including Bose sound systems with iPod docking stations.
Facilities at PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi include a large infinity-edge swimming pool, a watersports centre, a PADI-certified dive centre, a yoga pavilion and a gym. Other activities include guided snorkelling on the reef with the resident marine biologist, dolphin-watching or island-hopping trips, sunset fishing, as well as sunset cruises and overnight sails on a luxurious traditional dhoni (wooden Maldivian sailboat).
When it comes to dining, there are several different venues and types of cuisine to choose from, including a seafood restaurant, healthy spa cuisine and a wood-fired pizzeria beneath the palm trees. Staff can also set up a private table for two beneath the stars on a rock island, in the underground wine cellar or in the intimacy of your bungalow. Last but not least, a bar at the water's edge serves everything from tropical juices to cocktails.
Why we love it
The hotel has what is billed as 'the world's first underwater spa'; some treatment rooms having glass floors and others actually below the waves, with views of surrounding marine life.
