This stylish hotel is an old Portuguese villa fused with a contemporary modern design, planted on the edge of an outcrop of rocks, overlooking the Atlantic.

The design of this hotel has seamlessly incorporated many regal touches to make a stunning blend of old meets new. The 33 bedrooms have superb attention to detail and monochrome design finishes, whilst managing not to encroach on the spectacular views of the ocean. Many of the bedrooms come complete with balconies or terraces, overlooking the Atlantic or the landscaped gardens, and include amenities such as hydrotherapy baths.

The onsite restaurant, The Mix, serves Mediterranean food in a modern dining area with panoramic coastal views. As well as this guests can request their meals on the terrace in order to really soak up the ocean and atmosphere. For a lighter bite, the hotel also hosts a sushi bar in the summer months, On The Rocks bar, which also serves a unique and fresh cocktail selection outside on the swimming pool terrace.

The salt water swimming pool and lounge terrace stretches out into the Atlantic, with waves occasionally lapping onto the deck; here guests can get a real glimpse of the stunning panoramic landscape. The position of the Farol Design Hotel is perfect for wandering around the historic fishing village of Cascais, or visiting the local beaches where activities such as water sports and horse riding are widely available.

Why we love it

Guests should try the private, poolside gate to clamber down the rocks for a swim in the sea.
