Offering expeditions rather than cruises, the Orion has been purpose-built to take travellers to the most inaccessible areas around Australasia and the Antarctic, allowing them to experience remote communities and abundant wildlife.
Orion Cruises place emphasis on the expeditionary nature of their voyages yet, when it comes to the accommodation, no luxury is spared. Cabins are appointed with marble en suites, enjoy ocean views and all have internet access, TV and DVD player. The larger suites boast a separate lounge area and viewing balcony.
Dining is a civilized and relaxed affair: breakfast is served as a buffet; guests can lunch and dine in the restaurant or al fresco; and the evening is rounded off with music and drinks in the lounge. The chef takes inspiration from the regions visited to create original menus full of flavour.
After feasting on all that delicious food, the inspiring ocean views from the ship's gym are almost irresistible. Alternatively, for relaxation, there is also a spa which offers various treatments, a sauna and a sun deck with Jacuzzi. Guests can choose from a selection of reading material in the library, and the specially built lecture theatre hosts presentations from experts about the culture, flora and fauna of areas visited.
The Orion undertakes cruises to Borneo, the Kimberley region in Western Australia and to the Antarctic, to name a few. Travellers can view prehistoric rock art, go snorkelling, or experience foreign and secluded cultures.
What's not to love - great food, fantastic surroundings and it's mobile!
