Vintage shopping in Berlin

A good vintage... Is Berlin the hippest city in the world right now? We at Original Travel think it might just be. There's obviously history and culture galore, but what really sets the German capital apart is the creative vibe. The clubbing scene might be a little too techno/industrial for all tastes, but there's no denying the clubs themselves are achingly cool. There's also a community of excellent contemporary artists working across various media, and a feeling that the city is the hub of so much invention at the moment.

Arbiters of all things cool

Where there are influential types, they need somewhere to hang out, which has lead to the fast increasing number of happening hotels and bars springing up, with those arbiters of all things cool - the Soho House group - at the fore. Soho House Berlin is as immaculate and tasteful as you'd expect, but a different vibe that is quintessential Berlin is the eclectic mix-matching of styles and genres of furniture in some of the lower key lounge bars.

In the Mitte of things

Mitte, in old East Berlin, is the epicentre of all that's in in Berlin, with its studied communist era look-and-feel bars and boutiques selling vintage clothing and furniture. So, if you fancy shopping in Berlin. and you don't think you can live another day without an old Bauhaus desk lamp or pair of vintage leather boots, this is the place to head.
