Belmond Palacio Nazarenas

Housed in a former palace and convent, Palacio Nazarenas exudes the history and culture of Cusco with original features such as Inca stones still very much in tact.

Ollie and Kate B are here to help give you the inside track.

A little fairy dust from Belmond, and it is now one of the most luxurious hotels in Cusco. There are 55 suites at Palacio Nazarenas, all elegantly decorated with wrought iron beds, stunning art work and traditional furniture. IPads in every room are pre-loaded with the pillow menu, city guides, and the restaurant menu, and provide just the right dose of cool. The suites are also oxygenated in order to help guests acclimatise to the high altitude of Cusco.

Senzo, the hotel's restaurant, serves traditional Peruvian food with a modern twist, and the pool bar offers light snacks and cocktails. Head chef Virgilio Martinez whips up delicious creations in the restaurant, and also offers guests cooking lessons and tours of the market. Guests can also eat at the sister hotel, Hotel Monasterio, which is right next door and serves Mediterranean cuisine.

For some serious pampering, head to the Hypnôze Spa, which has a huge variety of treatments inspired by Andean and Inca culture. True to its heritage, some of the spa rooms even have glass floors to expose the Incan foundations beneath.

Located between the historic Plaza de Armas and the lively area of San Blas, Palacio Nazarenas is in a quiet plaza just behind the main square. In the heart of the action, yet in a quiet location, all of the sights and attractions are just a stone's throw away.
