Chiawa Camp is a family-run camp occupying a prime position in the Lower Zambezi National Park.
Set amongst a grove of evergreen mahogany trees, the camp consists of eight luxurious, en-suite safari tents overlooking the Zambezi. One of the Suites, the Safari Suite, is a completely stand alone property with its own private vehicle. There is a pool for refreshing dips on the sun deck, a bush gym and a thatched lounge/bar area with an upstairs viewing deck providing wonderful views of the river.
The Lower Zambezi National Park is renowned for its combination of scenery and wildlife viewing. More than 50 mammal species, including the African wild dog, and 400 bird species thrive in the Park, and Chiawa is located in one of the most game-rich areas.
Chiawa offers bush walks accompanied by armed rangers, game drives (including night drives), and canoe safaris on the river and lagoons. The camp also has a viewing hide up in a mahogany tree from where you can watch the prolific wildlife by the river. Fishing for the renowned tiger fish is offered on a strict catch & release basis.
Chiawa's chefs produce delicious meals, with breakfasts and lunches served on the veranda or on a riverboat. Suppers are served under the stars by the camp fire or, during the full moon, on a sand bar in the middle of the Zambezi.
