Amanzi is a rustic and charming camp with a picture perfect position on the banks of the Zambezi’s Ngwenya channel. Overlooking a mosaic of picturesque islands and various roaming wildlife, the camp is the ideal sofa safari destination.
There are just four tents at Amanzi, each with two double beds (or one king sized), indoor bathrooms, spacious seating areas and polished wood flooring. The tents sit upon raised teak platforms, offering great game viewing over the river channel, and connect to the main lodge via a raised boardwalk. There are panoramic viewing panels inside the tents, and each has a private sitting deck with a hammock overlooking the Zambezi - the perfect spot to relax during the afternoon.
The chef at Amanzi passionately prepares and serves a fusion of European and African cuisines for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The three course dinners are a real highlight and are served alongside fine South African wines.
From the main lodge area you can look out over the handful of nearby islands which are home to a group of bull elephants who can frequently be spotted playing and washing in the river. The main lodge area is also home to a well-stocked bar, the dining area and an infinity pool which stretches along the riverbank. Activity options here include game drives (day and night) and bush walks with the experienced guiding team, who will ensure you spot as many different animals as possible during your stay. The Lower Zambezi National Park is home to lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos, and herds of elephants, to name just a few, so you really won't be short of sightings here. For those less interested in the game, alternative activities include boat trips, fishing excursions, canoeing and birding.
