Honeymoon Barbados

Barbados is very much an island of two halves – the glitz and glamour of the west coast versus the wilder, more rugged east coast.

And whichever of these options floats your boat for your Barbados honeymoon, we at Original Travel have the inside track on the best places to stay and things to do. If complete R&R is the order of the day then you've come to the right place; the Caribbean's laidback vibes (with a distinctly English twist in the case of Barbados) and picture-perfect beaches will make the stresses of the wedding process melt away. And if you do fancy injecting a bit of adventure into your honeymoon then there's plenty by way of water-based activities, from sailing to snorkelling and deep sea fishing, to keep you occupied. One thing that tends to fly under the radar about Barbados is the quality of the food, with some seriously good restaurants dotted across the island; everything from fine dining in luxurious hotels to delightful local eateries.

While most consider our winter to be the best time to visit Barbados (perfect for a winter wedding) it is something of a misconception to say that the summer months should be entirely ruled out due to the hurricane season. Granted, you should avoid September and October when the weather can be quite stormy but from April to August much of the Caribbean remains gloriously sunny. What's more, you'll get much better value for money during these times - needless to say we'll give you the inside track on getting the best deal.

Take advantage of our Honeymoon Gift List service! The service allows your loved ones to contribute towards the overall cost of your Original Travel honeymoon.

Original Highlight

Image of Isabel de Galleani

There's nothing quite like sitting back, rum (obvs) cocktail in hand, and watching the sunset across a beautifully secluded beach.

Where to go

Boat on the beach Barbados

Barbados. The name alone summons up images of palm-fringed beaches, cricket, polo and rum punches. Not a bad little combo.

Where to stay

The Lone Star

The Lone Star

Here at Original Travel we know hotels created from lighthouses, factories, prisons and more, but as ‘creative reimaginings’ go, The Lone Star in Barbados is still right up there. The star in question refers to the Texaco service station that has since become the best boutique hotel on the island, with one of the finest restaurants (once called ‘the Ivy of the Caribbean’) to boot.

Atlantis Hotel, Barbados

The Atlantis

Completely restored in 2009, the delightful Atlantis was the first hotel to open on the Island’s east coast back in 1883. Today, the property has the same great views over the rugged Atlantic coastline and is the ideal place to relax away from the more popular west coast.

Little Good Harbour, Barbados

Little Good Harbour

Located in the tranquil little fishing community of Shermans, Little Good Harbour’s charm is all down to it being one of the last family-run ocean front hotels on the fashionable west coast of Barbados.
