At the risk of getting all deep, seeing how other cultures make sense of the stresses and strains of every day existence and celebrate the good things in life can be a thoroughly life affirming experience.

We humans have come up with a bewildering range of answers to the big questions, and one of travel's greatest pleasures is seeing those answers - be they religious, traditional or even gastronomical - played out in their natural habitats. The conclusion we often reach when on research trips? We're mighty different on some levels, but when push comes to shove, we're all comfortingly similar.
