Set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Kyaninga sits the Kyaninga Lodge; the brainchild of British explorer, Steve Williams, whose vision led to the creation of luxury accommodation built entirely from timber.
The lodge boasts eight large thatched cottages, accessible by a main walkway but set far enough apart to offer ultimate privacy and uninterrupted views of the Great Rift Valley and Congo Basin. Inside the cottages remain timber clad and are simple in décor, but soft linens and comfortable beds mean they are very cosy. Twin or double bed options are available and all of the cottages benefit from private decks which overlook the gardens and mountains beyond.
Dinner can be enjoyed in the main lodge's restaurant and the menu is based on classic European cuisine. The lodge adds a special touch by using fresh local ingredients which are mostly sourced from the lodge's gardens. The main lodge has comfortable seating and an open fireplace to while away the hours with a drink from the bar, and just off the main lodge there are two decks furnished with loungers to enjoy the panoramic views of the lake.
Kyaninga Lodge sits less than an hour away from Kibale National Park and as such guided walks can be arranged to see chimpanzees, rare red colobus' and an array of other monkeys. For those wanting an original safari experience, Queen Elizabeth National Park is only two hours away by car and is a great opportunity to spot the Big Five. For days spent at the lodge itself, the swimming pool and two grassy terraces are the ideal sun soaking spots, perfect for lazy days enjoying the views.
