Taking its name from the legendary English explorer Samuel Baker, Baker’s Lodge offers a charming and authentic base for safaris within the Murchison Falls National Park.
The eight individual thatched safari suites are raised on stilts, each with a deck overlooking the river. The spacious suites are fan cooled, have netted windows, hanging mosquito nets, solar powered lighting and locally crafted decorative items, creating a true African atmosphere. En suite bathrooms are open plan with solar hot water showers and some also have bathtubs with river views.
A central lounge is home to the bar and dining area and offers 180 degree views of the river and an outdoor dining deck for use when the sun is shining. Multi course breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served as part of the safari experience at Baker's Lodge, and guests are awoken each morning with hot drinks delivered to their cottage.
The lodge is located on the Nile River bank, and offers direct river access for boating safaris, leisure cruises and fishing trips into Murchison Falls National Park and the Victoria Nile Delta. Other activities include game drives, trekking and even chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest. The lodge itself is set within a large private area, punctuated with shady trees and wetland areas hosting abundant birdlife along the water's edge. The views from the swimming pool are fantastic, and nesting egret birds, bathing elephants and pods of hippos are seen regularly from the lodge.
