Santorini Honeymoons

Santorini Honeymoons

'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'

Ah, the 'four somethings', a traditional rhyme that has brides rummaging around in their grandmother's undergarments in an attempt to ward off evil spirits and bless them with fertility before their big day. Yikes, as if there wasn't enough to worry about already. Whether you're all about tradition, or a total non-conformist, we think that a luxury honeymoon to Santorini ticks all of the boxes when it comes to the honeymoon of a lifetime. (No underwear swapping required).

Of all the Greek Islands, Santorini is the definition of honeymoon chic. Its killer sunsets, cliff-edge-clinging houses and indigo blue seas are as iconic as its buzzing night life and slick hotels. Throw in the recently arrived direct BA flights and Santorini is honeymoon preened and ready.

Something Old

Santorini is packed with antiquity at every turn. The theory goes that when Santorini's volcano blew her top four thousand years ago a fabled city slipped beneath the waves and the legend of Atlantis was born. Why not unleash your inner culture vulture and take the morning to stroll through the Akrotiri ruins hand in hand. It's a welcome rest from the buzz of modern living and the perfect antidote to wedding party stress.

Something New

Santorini is awash with magnificent architecture and Oia is best known for its neoclassical mansions that blend seamlessly with ancient churches and cobbled streets. The Iconic Santorini opened in April 2014 and already has the 'terrifically stylish' seal of approval from Tatler magazine. Honeymooners can expect private verandas, a wellness centre and personalised excursions to suit their mood.

Something Borrowed

Borrow our honeymoon planners' knowledge of the most romantic spots to eat, drink and relax in Santorini; from the best Prawn Saganaki at Argo restaurant, to our top secret spot to watch the infamous pink sunset. (Don't tell a soul, but the Grace Santorini's infinity pool is definitely where it's at). We highly recommend waking up to a champagne breakfast with views across the Caldera, followed by some serious sampling of Santorini's home grown wines (there are over 20 wineries on the island). Finish up at Franco's Bar for a cocktail in the evening before slinking back to the calming white interiors of Grace Santorini. This honeymoon business is tiring after all.

Something Blue

Blue skies, blue domed roofs and the blue waters of the Caldera. Even the village doors are, you guessed it, blue. Throw in the backdrop of a pink sunset and it's no surprise that honeymooners find Santorini spellbinding. If you do manage to break from the romantic haze the photo opportunities are endless and a sailing trip around the island will fulfil any yearning for some soft adventure.
