Arrive by plane into Geneva before beginning your train journey to Saas-Fee via Visp. After six days of snow and sun, hop back on the train through Visp, Geneva and onwards to Paris. Indulge in the City of Lights before boarding the Eurostar back to Lonon.
This itinerary can either be done entirely by train or can be turned into an ‘Aerotrain’ itinerary, where one way is a quick hop by aeroplane and the other way is a leisurely train ride.
Route
Fly to Geneva and catch the train to Saas Fees
Get ready for your first – and only – flight this holiday to scenic Switzerland. Make the most of the airport lounge before boarding the two-hour flight to Geneva. Upon arrival, wind your watches an hour forward and hop on the train to Visp, where a local representative will be waiting to meet you at the station. Board your second train and admire the snowy (or sunny) sights from the window as you chug towards Saas-Fee. A final transfer will whisk you away to your hotel, a chic chalet-style stay surrounded by the snow-capped Alps. With six days of Saas-Fee fun ahead of you, sink into bed and recharge your batteries.
Saas Fee
Saas-Fee is the quintessential postcard-perfect ski resort. Enclosed by the pine-lined Alps in a snowy hug, this high-altitude resort is world-renowned for its 11,500ft high slopes that boast one of the longest seasons in Europe. Grab a piste map, tighten your bindings and head out to explore the slopes that zigzag their way down the mountains. In restaurants tucked away in slope-side cabins, warm your hands with a hot chocolate as your icy feet defrost by an open fire. As the days wind to an end, don’t miss out on some table-top dancing and beer drinking at one of the lively après bars.
Come summer, skiers and snowboarders can still enjoy snowy delights at the resort’s highest peaks. But lower down, the rest of the slopes transform into a verdant wonderland with green grass and glassy lakes. Hop in a cable car for a mountain-top lunch or settle down in the village in a traditional bar or café. Hiking, climbing, swimming and biking can also be enjoyed in the mountains or in the town; Saas-Fee as a true year-round playground
Onwards to Paris
Say goodbye to Saas-Fee and bonjour to Paris, as today you’re taking the train to the City of Lights. Retrace your steps via train back to Visp and then Geneva, before hopping on a train to Paris. You’ll arrive around three hours after leaving Geneva, where a short transfer will see you settle into your central hotel. Freshen up and head out to explore Paris’ fantastic food scene – think soul-warming French onion soup, escargots stuffed with garlicy butter and the best steak tartare you’ll ever taste.
Paris
Tuck into some fluffy croissants this morning then head out to explore Paris’ hotspots: the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Louvre Museum are just a few of the sites that pull visitors back time and time again. Come evening, we’ve secured you a private tour of the city in a vintage car. As you wind your way through the quieter centre streets, admire illuminated buildings, arty neighbourhoods and a host of emblematic monuments. After your one-and-a-half-hour tour, find yourself a cosy bar and raise a toast to the end of your action-packed holiday.
Catch the Eurostar back to London
There’s just one more train left of your holiday – a speedy ride on the Eurostar back to London. With border and luggage checks all taking place before you depart, simply hop off in London and begin your final journey home.
