The crescent-shaped country of Croatia is known for its peaceful pebbled beaches and its milky-green lakes – but its cities have just as much to offer. Whether you choose its capital, Zagreb, in the north, or its coastal towns in the south, Croatia city breaks can be enjoyed year-round. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, it’s never too cold, with temperatures staying around 9°C in the height of winter. For those who love their caffeine, Zagreb’s coffee culture invites you to finish your morning stroll with a cappuccino in one of its sleepy sun-drenched café terraces. It’s also an architectural melting pot,
with secessionist, neo-baroque and art deco buildings housing bustling shops and lively bars. Meanwhile, historical breaks lie closer to the sea - in Dubrovnik, walking around the whitewashed streets and ancient city walls is like taking a trip back in time. Visit Croatia’s cities to discover the country beyond its beach-lined border.
