Ibo Island is one of 32 tropical islands that make up the unspoilt Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique.
Ibo Island Lodge consists of three beautiful century old villas - Paradiso Mansion, Niassa Mansion And Bela Vista Mansion - all located right on the waterfront. There are a selection of rooms spread across all three villas, five Sea Facing Rooms, five Historical Rooms and four Garden Rooms. Most rooms have verandas with teak day beds where you can relax and catch the sea breezes. Since the Paradiso Mansion also has its own pool and houses five of the rooms it can be taken on an exclusive use basis and therefore would come complete with a private chef and butler.
Guests can do as much or as little as they please during their stay on Ibo Island. Activities include trips to pristine beaches, snorkelling, fishing, sea kayaking through the mangrove channels and sailing on traditional dhows. Marine species include turtles, dolphins and humpback whales; which can be spotted on a scuba diving excursion from the PADI Dive Resort, Dive Quirimbas.
The island also has a long history as a trading station (based not least on slavery) and the atmospheric old town has much to see, including a fine pentagonal fort. Alternatively you can just relax in a hammock or enjoy a massage. Meals (and sundowners) are served on the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea and include plenty of fresh seafood and tropical fruit.
