Pack your bags and sense of adventure – Andalucia is calling. This eight-day family road trip hits the sweet spot between culture, coastline and hands-on experiences, all at a pace that keeps little ones curious and grown-ups equally inspired.

Your journey kicks off in Seville, the capital of Andalucia, where you’ll explore the city’s iconic sights, wander historic streets and set off on a private guided bicycle ride through its lively neighbourhoods. Then, step into rural life with a visit to a traditional Andalusian horse ranch, where the elegant Iberian horses take centre stage.

From here, hit the road and head into the wild heart of southern Spain in Donana National Park. Bounce around in the back of a 4x4 as a guide takes you through pine forests and vast marshes, home to an abundance of wildlife – so keep your eyes peeled.

Finally, settle into coastal life in Chiclana de la Frontera. Parents can unwind with a chilled sangria while little ones play in the sand, followed by that all-important afternoon siesta. Days here end sun-kissed, with plenty of delicious dishes and a scoop (or two) of gelato to round things off.

While based here, head out on a guided day trip to Gibraltar to discover dramatic viewpoints, marvel at the famous Barbary macaques and uncover layers of history packed into one striking destination. You’ll also have time to explore the whitewashed villages around Chiclana, wandering through the winding streets, quiet squares and soaking up a slower pace of local life. And just like that, you’ll likely be smitten by Andalucia’s charm...

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Bags packed, snacks secured and excitement levels officially sky high – today you and the family are off to Spain. Head to the airport, breeze through security and bundle onto the plane for a three-hour flight to Seville.

When you arrive, you’ll be whisked away by private transfer to your hotel in the heart of old Seville, your home for the next two nights.

Just a short stroll away, you’ll find some of the city’s icons, including the grand Seville Cathedral – the largest Gothic monument in Spain. Built on the site of a former mosque, it’s crowned by the famous Giralda tower and even houses the remains of Christopher Columbus. Make the most of your skip-the-line tickets and head to the ornate Royal Alcazar (Europe's oldest active royal palace), which showcases a fascinating blend of the city's architectural styles through the centuries.

As evening falls, why not ask the little ones what they’re craving for dinner, or try out some of your Concierge’s favourite spots?

Spend the morning exploring the different neighbourhoods of Seville. Wander through lively areas like El Arenal, Triana and La Macarena (yes, this district inspired that Macarena song – so feel free to bust out some moves), dipping into tapas bars to keep everyone fuelled as you go. Follow the sounds of music spilling out into sunlit squares, where you might catch flamenco dancers stomping and twirling to the fiery strum of a guitar – always a crowd-pleaser.

But the best way to see the city? By bike, of course. This morning, meet your private guide, set everyone up on two wheels and then hit the streets. Pedal along a six-mile route, passing grand Moorish palaces, Gothic churches and flower-filled patios. Along the way, your guide will keep everyone entertained with stories, legends and quirky anecdotes about the city.

All that pedalling is bound to work up a hefty appetite, so why not finish on a sweet note? We can arrange a private ice cream tasting in a historic dessert parlour – just be prepared for the inevitable family debate on which flavour is the best...

This morning, meet some of Andalucia’s most iconic residents – the elegant Iberian horse. Head to a traditional farm where these purebred beauties are raised and cared for and join a local rancher for a tour of the stables. Your guide will introduce you to a few of the stars of the show, pointing out which ones love a bit of attention and which are clearly just waiting for their next snack, all while teaching you about their importance to the region.

It might take some convincing to tear the little ones away – but here’s more adventure ahead. Pick up your hire car and buckle in for the one-hour drive to Donana Nature Reserve, one of Spain’s largest national parks, famed for its abundance of birdlife. When you arrive, check into your hotel and unpack. This will be your base for the next two nights.

We’ve deliberately kept this evening low-key so you can soak up the peace and quiet of your natural surroundings, take a dip in the pool or simply head in for an early night.

Enjoy a lie-in this morning and head out for a local breakfast, before climbing into the back of a 4x4 this afternoon to explore Donana National Park with an expert guide.

At the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, the park’s marshes give way to a striking patchwork of landscapes, from sweeping dunes sculpted by the wind to stretches of untouched sandy beaches. Further inland, pine forests shelter some of the park’s most elusive residents, including the rare Iberian lynx. This area is also home to a vibrant array of birdlife, so keep your eyes peeled as you go. Who will be the first to spot an eagle soaring above?

All this exploring is bound to leave stomachs rumbling. Tonight, tuck into some traditional cuisine – think jamon iberico (cured ham) and espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas). Ask our local Concierge for their favourite spot in town – they always know where the sweetest churros are served.

Hit the road this morning for the scenic one-hour drive south to Chiclana de la Frontera, travelling along the Costa de la Luz. Roll down the windows, tune into our destination-specific playlist and let the full family sing-along commence...

Arrive in Chiclana de la Frontera, a postcard-perfect stretch of coastline famous for its golden beaches and calm waters. Hop out and herd the excitable youngsters straight to your beachfront hotel, your home for the next three nights.

Unpack and slip into sandals for a stroll along the shore. Cue the little ones making a beeline for the sea while parents watch on from sunloungers, basking in that oh-so glorious sunshine, perhaps with a sangria in hand to celebrate your arrival?

Rise and shine early this morning to meet your p rivate guide, then embark on the one-and-a-half-hour journey to Gibraltar.

First stop: the huge 100-tonne defensive cannons, where your guide will bring their history to life with tales of sieges and strategy. Then it’s down to Europa Point, the southernmost tip of Europe, where on a clear day, you can spot Africa on the horizon.

Next, head up into the Upper Rock Nature Reserve to explore the illuminated chambers of St. Michael’s Cave before climbing to the very top of the Rock, where you’ll find the cheeky Barbary macaques (Europe’s only wild monkeys). Just be sure to keep a close eye on your snacks as you meet these curious characters – known for their mischievous streak. Then walk through tunnels carved by the British, as well as the remains of a Muslim castle.

After a jam-packed day, head back for a relaxed dinner on the beach. Sit al fresco by the water, sampling classics like paella (a rice dish with seafood or meat) or croquetas (crispy fried bites), usually a hit with the youngsters.

Back behind the wheel today, explore one of Andalucia’s most beautiful hilltop villages, Vejer de la Frontera, a classic pueblo blanco perched above the coast. Amble through the maze of whitewashed streets, dipping in and out of little shops selling all sorts of keepsakes – perfect if you’re on the hunt for a souvenir to take home.

Climb to a viewpoint where the landscape opens out to rolling countryside and Atlantic horizons, and on a clear day, you’ll see just how close Africa really is. Don’t miss Plaza de Espana or the historic Casa del Mayorazgo, known for its traditional patios. And make sure to snap plenty of family selfies along the way – this is prime holiday album material.

Feeling peckish? Duck into the town’s oldest pastry shop and sample some local favourites, such as pestinos (honey-glazed fritters) or sugary roscos (sweet dough rings).

And if your young explorers are still raring to go, we can arrange s urf lessons on the coast of Cadiz – where it’s game on to see who can stay upright the longest.

Diffuse any ‘I don’t want to go home’ tantrums this morning, because sadly, it’s time to say adios to Andalucia.

Gear up for the one-and-a-half-hour drive back to Seville Airport, return your hire car, stock up on some Spanish snacks (because no trip home is complete without a tasty souvenir stash) and then check in for your flight home.

You’ll spend around three hours in the air: plenty of time to start the all-important conversation with your youngsters: where to next on the travel bucket list?

Suggestions

Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included

A RIDDLE HUNT IN SEVILLE

Ready to put your detective skills to the test? Seville’s winding streets set the stage for a fun-filled family riddle hunt, where sightseeing comes with a crack-the-code twist. Armed with clues, maps and a healthy dose of curiosity, set off together to solve puzzles hidden around the city. At the heart of the mystery is the story of Peter I of Castile, a Medieval ruler known as ‘the Cruel’ or ‘the Justiciar’, whose tumultuous reign still lingers in the streets and squares of Seville today. As you follow the trail, each clue reveals a new piece of the puzzle, so it’s all about working together and discovering the city one riddle at a time.

A SCOOP OF ANDALUCIA

If your youngsters have a sweet tooth, step inside this heladeria (dessert parlour), and you’re in for a treat the whole family will love. Run by Antonio, a third-generation ice cream maker, this is no ordinary scoop stop. Here, gelato becomes an art form. Forget artificial flavourings and colourings, this is all about the true taste of Andalucia, from roasted almonds and wild herbs to a splash of local liqueur (for the grown-ups). With your guide, you'll uncover the history behind each gelato before settling in for a private tasting, where your little ones will be wide-eyed at the sheer flavours on offer. What better way to cool down after a day of adventures?

SURF LESSONS ON THE COAST OF CADIZ

Fancy swapping sandcastles for surfboards? Along the golden shores of Conil de la Frontera, just a short hop from Cadiz, the Atlantic rolls in with steady waves, perfect for a family surf lesson. Expect plenty of laughs, a few wobbles and those brilliant ‘did you see that?’ moments as everyone has a go at riding the swell. With an expert instructor leading the way, it’s all about finding your balance and soaking up that laid-back, sun-on-your-face, salt-in-your-hair feeling. And of course, brace yourself for one family member to absolutely nail it and spend the rest of the day acting like they’re about to turn pro...
