Inspiration for your own tailor-made trip
South Africa – Cape Town – Franschhoek – Sabi Sands
100% customisable for you
Passports at the ready: it’s time for wedded bliss to begin. Head to the airport, speed through security and enjoy a celebratory tipple in the lounge before boarding your 11-and-a-half-hour overnight flight to Cape Town.
When you land the next morning, you’ll be met by a private driver and whisked away to your centrally located hotel. The drive from the airport takes less than half an hour, so you'll be at your hotel and checked in before you know it.
After you’ve settled in and freshened up, kickstart your honeymoon in style with a sunset trip up Table Mountain. Time it just right (we can help with that), and your cable car will reach the top just in time to watch the sky turn from brilliant blue to burning orange and twinkling with the city's lights – a view best enjoyed with a champagne sundowner, of course.
After a good night's sleep, spend today exploring Cape Town’s cultural highlights. If you happen to be here on a Saturday, don't miss a morning filled with vintage shopping, delicious food and live music at the Old Biscuit Mill Market. Otherwise, head to one of the city’s many museums and galleries – the Slave Lodge museum is an interesting introduction to South Africa's turbulent history.
Next, it's time to hit the beach. Cape Town is bursting with beautiful sandy stretches, from the peace and quiet of Glenn's Bay to the lively Camps Bay or Clifton Beach.
If you’re still raring to go this evening, enjoy a memorable dinner at Fyn, set in the heart of the city.?Showcasing South Africa’s best?produce and?taking inspiration from the Fynbos region of the Cape Floral Kingdom, this is a distinctly?refined and authentic dining experience.
Today, step outside the city to explore some of the surrounding natural beauty. This morning, meet your guide for a private tour of the Cape Peninsula, heading south along the coast to the most southwestern point in all of Africa: Cape Point.
Along the way, stop at a series of charming seaside towns and hit the water on a short boat ride to Seal Island, before spending the majority of the afternoon exploring Cape Point itself. With rocky cliffs, an array of beautiful plant life and zebras and Chacma baboons among the possible wildlife sightings, this natural landmark feels a world away from Cape Town's city buzz.
Once you’ve soaked in the fresh sea air and magnificent scenery, head back to the city for another delicious dinner.
It's time to say goodbye to Cape Town this morning, so after one last city breakfast – we’d recommend Clarke's Dining Room for a hip alternative to your hotel – meet your transfer driver and hit the road for Franschhoek. The drive takes about an hour and a half, so simply sit back and enjoy the stunning countryside views as you venture into the Winelands.
When you arrive in Franschhoek, check into your new hotel and spend the rest of the day settling in. Come evening, enjoy a romantic dinner at the restaurant – complete with some of the region’s finest wines, of course.
Full of charming boutique shops and gourmet restaurants, Franschhoek is one of the most fashionable foodie destinations in the world. Combine this with striking French colonial architecture and it makes for an incredible place to explore.
Spend the day doing just that, either on foot or on hired bikes, which let you venture a little further into the lush landscapes.
For a dinner to remember, we recommend Café Bon Bon. Situated on a working winery, this rustic restaurant is a true hidden gem, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy the chef’s seasonal menu in their 200-year-old restored wine cellar or out on the shady terrace.
Of course, while you're here, it would be a crime not to do some wine tasting. With a plethora of wineries to choose from, and even more in the nearby towns of Paarl and Stellenbosch, it can be hard to know where to start, but don’t worry: we’ll arrange a winery tour with a knowledgeable guide, who’ll offer top tips and extensive knowledge while still letting you tailor the tour to your tastes and driving you between vineyards.
So, whether you're a sparkling or sauvignon fan, prefer chocolate over cheese or simply want to take it easy with a leisurely lunch at a single winery, your guide will ensure you go home happy – and perhaps a little tipsy…
Having embraced the romantic culture of the Winelands, it's time to head north to Sabi Sands Game Reserve. This morning, you’ll be picked up and privately transferred to Cape Town Airport to catch a two-and-a-half-hour flight to Skukuza. When you arrive, another friendly driver will be waiting to whisk you to your lodge, a 40-minute drive away.
You’ll arrive at the lodge just in time for your first game drive, so check in, drop your bags and head out. With everything from elephants and rhinos to cheetahs and hyenas, Sabi Sands is teeming with wildlife, making it one of the best places in Africa for a safari holiday.
Come evening, simply sit back and relax as you watch the sun set over the plains, ready for more excitement tomorrow.
The next three days are entirely dedicated to safari. Nestled in the southwestern corner of Kruger National Park, Sabi Sands Game Reserve is one of South Africa’s best safari spots. With over 160,000 acres of savannah, the reserve boasts a wealth of wildlife, including the renowned ‘Big Five’: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffaloes.
With twice-daily game drives and walking safaris, the expert rangers and trackers work hard to ensure you have the very best chance of seeing the region's big game. Rise bright and early for the morning drive, then head out again before dinner, watching out for elephants lazily plodding along, birds flitting about overhead and lions and leopards stalking their prey.
In between game drives, enjoy leisurely brunches, cool off with a swim in the pool or simply watch the wildlife as it ambles past the lodge. Evenings here are all about perfectly crafted sundowners and romantic dinners under the stars, toasting to the memorable experiences you've had over the last 11 days.
It’ll likely be difficult to drag yourself away, but the time has sadly come to pack your bags and head back home. After one final bush breakfast, a private driver will whisk you back to Skukuza airport, where you’ll catch a one-hour flight to Johannesburg.
Spend a couple of hours in Johannesburg airport – enough time to pick up any final souvenirs – then board your overnight flight back to the UK. You’ll be in the air for just over 11 hours and will touch down early the next morning, ready to regale your friends and family with tales of your heavenly honeymoon.
