Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Your winter break to Norway begins with a short flight to Oslo, lasting just over two hours – plenty of time to build excitement for the adventure ahead.

When you touch down, catch the shuttle train to Oslo city centre. This runs every ten minutes and whisks you into town in just 20 minutes, giving you your first taste of Scandinavian efficiency. From there, it’s a short journey to your hotel in the heart of the Norwegian capital, your home for the next two nights. Bags dropped – you're ready to start exploring.

Wrap up in plenty of warm scarves and gloves, then head out for a wander, perhaps stopping at a cosy cafe for indulgent hot chocolate. Or take a stroll along the waterfront, where crisp air and twinkling lights set the scene for the days ahead.

Come evening, our Concierge can point you towards one of their favourite restaurants. Think dishes like kjottkaker (meatballs and gravy) or fresh fish, all served in comforting Nordic style. Then it’s time to head back to your hotel for an early night – tomorrow promises plenty more excitement.

Rise and shine early this morning, wrap up warm, pop on your comfiest trainers and get ready to explore Oslo.

You’ll be met at your hotel by one of our expert guides – someone who knows the city like the back of their hand. Set off on a walking tour together, uncovering Oslo through a local lens.

Along the way, you’ll tick off some of the capital’s highlights, from the grand Royal Palace and Norwegian Parliament to the elegant National Theatre. Travelling with any art aficionados? Pass by (and perhaps step inside) the National Gallery of Fine Arts and the striking Munch Museum. Then it’s time to stretch your legs even more in the Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to hundreds of fascinating sculptures To round off the tour, head to the trendy Hegdehaugen district, a lively area filled with quirky shops and cafes, perfect for soaking up everyday life in Oslo.

The evening is yours to enjoy, whether you venture back into Oslo for a final taste of city magic, or curl up in your hotel by the fire with a wintry film, soaking up some seriously cosy vibes together.

You’re on the move today for the next chapter of your Norwegian winter break. Catch the shuttle back to Oslo Airport and pick up your rental car, then hit the road for a scenic three-hour drive north to Heggenes, a true winter wonderland.

Nestled in the mountainous Valdres region, along the way you’ll pass shimmering lakes, frosted forests and the peaks of Jotunheimen National Park. Keep an eye out for traditional wooden churches, including the Hegge Stave, looking like something straight out of a winter storybook.

Check into your lodge for the next three nights in the heart of the wilderness, built in classic wooden architecture, with inviting interiors. Be sure to stock up on plenty of warming teas, Norwegian pastries or chocolates to enjoy as you settle in.

The rest of the day is yours: ski along trails more than 600 miles long, hike through the forests, fish in the lakes or hop on a bike if the snow is light. Whatever you choose, the winter playground of Heggenes is sure to deliver.

As evening falls and the snow drifts softly outside, head back to your lodge and settle in for another delicious dinner.

Today you’re heading out for a dog sledding adventure. After a warming breakfast, make your way to Beitostolen, where you’ll meet your expert musher and your excitable pack of huskies – tails wagging, tongues lolling and always happy for a scratch behind the ear. You’ll get a quick low-down on how to harness the dogs and handle the sled, then it’s time – ready, set, whoosh! Off you glide into the winter wilderness, in the company of a guide. Your frantically racing pups will carry you through the snow, covering around 15-25 miles of breathtaking landscapes in Jotunheimen National Park.

Halfway through, pause at a small camp. Here, the huskies enjoy a well-earned snack and snooze in the snow, while your guide shows you how to prepare a traditional lunch in the wilderness. When you’re suitably stuffed, it’s back on the sled for the journey home.

Wind down in your own private sauna, a tradition cherished in Norway for centuries. Steam rising, cheeks rosy and muscles instantly relaxed, the sauna is the perfect way to recharge after a day out in the snow.

And if you’re still raring to go, there’s plenty to keep you busy over the next couple days in Heggenes. Fancy a snowshoe adventure? We can organise a trek where you’ll learn the basics of ice fishing.

For a truly special send-off, ask our Concierge to recommend the best restaurant in town for your final night.

Sadly it’s time to head home today. Buckle in for the three-hour drive back to Oslo Airport and return your trusty rental car. Stock up on snacks then board the two-and-a-half-hour flight back to the UK – plenty of time to start planning your next trip…
