A Magical Honeymoon in Morocco Mountains, Markets & Seaside Romance
Morocco – The Atlas Mountains – Marrakech – Oualidia
It all kicks off in the Atlas Mountains, near Mount Toubkal. Here, embark on a hike with a guide (and their donkey), admiring the views and holding your spouse’s hand on the trickier bits. And, after planning a wedding and tackling a mountain hike, you’ll be pleased to know that the next couple of days here are all about unwinding in the hammam and admiring those panoramic views...
The next destination for your honeymoon scrapbook is high-spirited Marrakech. Here, you’ll have time to amble around the souqs and perhaps pick up a surprise gift for your spouse (trust us, you’ll be spoilt for choice) before enjoying a private tour of the city’s highlights. Then, because good food is even better when shared, you’ll head to a Moroccan cooking class and learn how to prepare a traditional tagine together.
Your honeymoon ends in the charming beachfront town of Oualidia, where the days are entirely yours to fill – or leave gloriously free...
Itinerary
100% customisable for you
The ‘I do’s’ have been said and the bags are packed: your love-laced honeymoon to Morocco begins today. Head to the airport, breeze through security and settle into the lounge for a celebratory tipple before boarding your four-hour flight – the first of many just-married cheers.
When you touch down in Marrakech, you’ll be met at the airport and privately transferred one and a half hours into the Atlas Mountains.
After a scenic journey past red rock slopes and snow-dusted peaks, you’ll arrive at your charming mountain hotel – your home away from home for the next four nights.
Spend some time settling in and soaking up the views before heading out for a romantic candlelit dinner, where you’ll enjoy your first taste of Moroccan cuisine. Then, retreat to your room for an early night – tomorrow promises plenty more excitement...
Look up towards the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains towering above you – that’s where you’ll be hiking today.
Don your trekking gear and meet your experienced guide, who’ll lead you through walnut groves and past Berber goatherds to soak up incredible views across wide valleys dotted with sleepy villages.
You’ll also be accompanied by a trusty donkey, who’ll be carrying your picnic and cushions, so you can enjoy lunch with a view en route. Just don’t forget to immortalise the moment with a honeymoon selfie….
More adventurous couples can opt to camp out in a traditional village for the night; otherwise, return to the comfort of your hotel after a day on the trails. All that exploring is bound to have worked up a mountain-sized appetite (pun intended), so perhaps order a mezze platter for dinner and sample a little bit of everything...
After a full day of trekking yesterday, it’s time for some well-earned R&R (it is your honeymoon, after all).
The next two days are all yours, and we’ve left them entirely free so you can enjoy plenty of ‘just us’ time together.
Perhaps spend some time dipping in and out of the pool, sipping Moroccan mint tea in a shady spot and admiring those dreamy valley views with your favourite person by your side.
Fancy dialling up the bliss even more? Head to a nearby traditional spa for a steamy hammam ritual or book yourselves in for a rejuvenating couples’ massage. Cue two very happy, very relaxed lovebirds...
Say goodbye to the mountains this morning and meet your local driver for the one-and-a-half-hour drive back to the vibrant streets of Marrakech.
When you arrive, settle into your riad (an elegant townhouse arranged around a central courtyard), where you’ll be staying for the next three nights.
The rest of the evening is yours to spend however you please. Perhaps head to a rooftop terrace for a romantic dinner overlooking the medina, watching the hustle and bustle unfold below. Or, if you’d rather join in the chaos, explore the maze of mosaic-embellished alleyways leading to the spice-scented souqs...
Keen to score some newlywed brownie points? Flick through our detailed destination Dossier for some handpicked restaurant recommendations – perfect for surprising your spouse.
Are you or your spouse self-confessed shopaholics? You’re in luck: this morning is devoted to shopping and treasure hunting in Marrakech’s iconic souqs. Let’s hope you’ve left plenty of room in your suitcases for souvenirs...
Weave your way through the medina’s winding streets, where a medley of stalls are piled high with everything from fragrant spices and jewel-toned ceramics to ornately patterned rugs and handwoven baskets. Time to put those haggling skills to work and secure the perfect souvenir for your shelf...
All shopped out, meet your guide this afternoon for a deeper insight into Marrakech’s rich history and architecture. Highlights include the Koutoubia Mosque, whose minaret remains the city’s most recognisable landmark, as well as the 19th-century Bahia Palace, the Yves St Laurent Museum and the Lezama Synagogue. Let the oohing and aahing commence...
Today, you’ll be swapping candlelit dinners for a little culinary teamwork at one of Marrakech’s most respected cooking schools.
Roll up your sleeves, don your aprons and meet an expert chef, who’ll guide you step by step as you chop, stir and season your very own Moroccan tagine. Then for the best part: sit down together and tuck in. It’s safe to say your dinner rotation back home is in for a Moroccan-inspired upgrade...
That should fuel you up nicely for one last leisurely afternoon in the Red City. And, if your spouse is still dreaming about that little souvenir they begrudgingly left behind yesterday, now’s the time to go back and claim it...
Bags packed and Marrakech memories made, it’s time to head west towards Morocco’s dreamy Atlantic Coast. Meet your local driver and buckle in for a three-hour journey to the laid-back lagoon town of Oualidia, perhaps tuning into our destination-specific playlist along the way.
When you arrive in Oualidia, check in to your beachfront villa – your peaceful hideaway for the next three nights.
The rest of the day is all yours to spend as you like, so perhaps take a gentle stroll along the harbour to admire drifting fishing boats and vast ocean views. Or, in true honeymoon fashion, simply bask in the oh-so-glorious sunshine before enjoying another steamy stint in the hammam (you know the drill by now).
Tonight, dine somewhere local and feast on fresh seafood and fluffy couscous – a match made in heaven if you ask us.
Rise and shine whenever you feel like it this morning – today is all yours to explore Oualidia at a leisurely pace.
Perhaps spend the morning strolling around the charming town and hopping between cafés, or simply stretch out on your terrace, laze by the pool and make a good dent in your holiday reads. Those wedding to-do lists should feel like a distant memory by now...
Are you or your other half water babies? Give surfing, windsurfing or kayaking a whirl in Oualidia’s lovely lagoon waters and perhaps let a little friendly newlywed competition commence. And, after all that splashing about, you’ll have earned yourselves a delicious dinner for two.
Lather on the sunscreen and charge the camera, then embark on a boat trip around Oualidia’s sparkling lagoon. Cruise across the azure waters, keeping your eyes peeled for the pretty-in-pink flamingos that call this area home. Oualidia is also famous for its oyster beds, so be sure to sample some of these local delicacies over lunch afterwards.
Back on the shore, round off your honeymoon with a restaurant recommendation from our local Concierge, who’ll know just the spot for one last date night, Moroccan-style...
Time flies when you’re having fun and, sadly, your Moroccan honeymoon has come to an end.
After one last beachfront breakfast, you’ll be privately transferred three and a half hours back to Marrakech Airport, where you’ll board your direct flight back to the UK.
You’ll spend around four hours in the air; plenty of time to flick through your photos, relive the standout moments and pitch your next trip ideas to each other...
