The Spanish Mediterranean is one of the most popular destinations in Europe for good reason: the beaches are plentiful, the water is warm and turquoise and the amount of stylish eateries available is, quite frankly, dizzying. But our favourite thing? Tourists tend to stick to the same party-centric bastions, which, contrary to popular belief, means it’s very possible to find island hideaways unspoilt by mass tourism. This is what this getaway is all about: enjoying the scenic delights without the crowds. Whether its lazing on a white-sand beach in Ibiza, hiking though the radiant mountains of the Mallorcan hinterland or strolling through the pristine streets of Menorca’s historic villages, you can rest assured that you’ll be getting all the Mediterranean beauty without the touristy summer frenzy.

Route

Everything is 100% tailored to you
DAY 1

TOUCHDOWN IN THE SPANISH MEDITERRANEAN

Your summer island-hopping adventure across the paradisiacal Balearic Islands kicks off today. With your sunhat and SPF neatly packed, head to the airport. Once you’ve whizzed through security, settle into the airport lounge to enjoy some down time with a few nibbles and refreshments as you await departure. Flight time to Ibiza is two-and-a-half hours, enough time to get stuck into your holiday read before touching down. On arrival, collect your hire car and drive to the centre of the island to your first destination and home for the next four nights: a rustic and elegant hotel tucked away in the heart of the island’s radiant Mediterranean countryside. Spend the rest of today settling into the rhythm of island life. We recommend stretching your legs with a walk in the nearby hills at golden hour before enjoying an evening of wining and dining at the hotel.

DAYS 2 to 4

DISCOVER IBIZA

The next three days are all about soaking in the scenic and cultural delights of Ibiza. You’re based in the heart of the countryside, so walks through the little-known hinterland will naturally become a daily ritual. You’re also in striking distance of the idyllic coast, which is lined with a collection of picture-perfect beaches that range from long stretches of golden sand to tiny white-pebble coves and everything in between. In terms of culture, we’ve lined up a private walking tour of Ibiza’s main city. The walk is relaxed and based around you, so you can be entirely spontaneous. This is a great opportunity to not only discover the hidden gems of the city, but also to learn more about local life: customs, history, traditions, food, sport… whatever comes to your mind.

DAY 5

ISLAND HOP TO MALLORCA

Your journey across the Balearics continues today. After a delicious breakfast at the hotel this morning, hop into your hire car and travel back to the airport to catch a short domestic flight to Palma, in neighbouring Mallorca. A private driver will be waiting for you on arrival to whisk you off to your next home: a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Palma. The capital of the island unfolds around a beautiful bay and is framed by distant towering mountains. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the delights of the city. We recommend enjoying a leisurely stroll along the seafront promenade, followed by a refreshing dip in the ocean and a relaxing sunbathe. You could also turn to our destination-specific Dossier, which is full of tried-and-tested recommendations for cafes, bars and restaurants. If you would prefer to explore with an expert, then we can arrange for you to discover the city in the company of a friendly local guide.

DAY 6

INTO THE MOUNTAINS

Today you’ll be switching things up, swapping the hustle and bustle of Palma for the calm of Campanet, a quaint sleepy town in the north of the island. After a delicious breakfast this morning, collect your rental car and drive half an hour to your next destination: an elegant hotel in a historic building in the heart of town. The rest of today is yours to play with. You can explore your surroundings and find a tapas bar for a nibble and a glass of wine, or simply kick back in the peaceful gardens of the hotel. Enjoy a delicious meal at the in-house restaurant this evening before settling in for a good night’s rest ready for an adventurous day tomorrow.

DAY 7

ELECTRIC BIKE RIDE

Rise and shine, the mountains are calling your name. Make sure to fuel up at breakfast this morning as today you’ll be heading out on a guided adventure on an electric mountain bike. This is a great way to soak in the vast and varied landscapes of this portion of the island, without having to worry about running out of energy too quickly. You’ll be cycling in the Serra de Tramuntana, a breathtaking mountain range peppered with traditional villages oozing with old-fashioned charm. The higher up you go, the more breathtaking the views across the island becomes, so make sure to have your camera fully-charged and at your fingertips.

DAY 8

COUNTRYSIDE CALLING

Before jetting off to your next island, there’s one place left in store for you in Mallorca: the charming countryside hamlet of Capdepera. Hit the road again this morning and drive one hour to the far east coast, through emerald sun-drenched landscapes and via the picturesque town of Artà. On arrival, check into a charming estate surrounded by gardens, where you’ll be staying for the next three nights. Set among fragrant green hills that roll wistfully off into the distance, the historic town is full of charms and a perfect place to rest and rejuvenate in nature. Take the rest of today to slow down and settle into your new home. We recommend fetching your book and relaxing poolside for the afternoon, enjoying the warm summer sun.

DAYS 9 & 10

REST AND REJUVENATE IN THE HILLS

The next two days are all about relaxing and reconnecting with nature. You’re surrounded by exquisite countryside perfect for long strolls and you’re also very close to the east coast of the island, which is lined with a collection of beautiful beaches and bays. One of our favourites here is Cala Mesquida, which, bordered by wild sand dunes and turquoise waters, is the perfect spot for a beach day. And while this portion of your getaway is conducive to some serious R&R, there is also plenty to keep you busy when you fancy a bit of action. You can head out for a hike in the natural park of the Peninsula de Llevant, tour the medieval town of Arta and the caves of the same name, visit the archaeological site of Ses Païsses and discover the delights of Capdepera. Make sure to visit the town’s splendid castle, which sits regally at the highest point in town. The interior chapel retains a 14th-century Christ and a Gothic virgin, Notre Dame de l’Espérance. If you’re looking for some culinary-centric fun then our team can arrange for you to head to a beautiful olive-oil producing estate in the heart of fragrant olive groves for a tasting of local oils and other specialities.

DAY 11

HOP ACROSS THE MED

The time has come to bid farewell to Mallorca and jet off to the final island of your island-hopping adventure: Menorca. After a hearty breakfast this morning, drive one hour back to the airport in Palma, where you’ll catch a forty-minute flight to Mahon. On arrival, collect a new hire car and drive to Ferreries, an idyllic white-washed town in the heart of lush green hills, a thirty-minute drive away. Your home for the next four nights is an enchanting family-run hotel that specialises in agro-tourism. Spend the rest of today settling into your new surroundings. We recommend heading out for a gentle stroll through the nearby countryside at golden hour before enjoy a relaxing evening at the hotel.

DAYS 12 to 14

CULTURE AND NATURE IN MENORCA

More quiet and relaxed than Ibiza and Mallorca, the tiny island of Menorca is the perfect place to round off your holiday. You’ll have three full days here to soak in the endless scenic and cultural delights on offer. In terms of nature, the crystal-clear waters of the nearby beaches are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving, while the wild unspoiled hinterland is conducive to plenty of walking. Beyond its natural splendour, Menorca reveals a rich history and culture, which is found everywhere from its adorable towns and villages to its fabulous prehistoric monuments, such as the Naveta dels Tudons. On one of the next three days you’ll also have the opportunity to discover charming Port Mahon with a local guide. Your sidekick for the day knows the city inside out and can tailor your walking tour to your tastes. Once again, the walk could focus on art, architecture, history, food, fashion… or a bit of everything.

DAY 15

ADIOS BALEARICS

Sadly the time has come to say goodbye to the beautiful Balearics and embark on the journey home. After one last delicious Mediterranean breakfast this morning, head back to the airport in Mahon. Drop off the car, whizz through security and take the opportunity to stock up on some local specialities before boarding your two-and-a-half hour flight back to the UK.

A la carte

PRIVATE WALKING TOUR OF PALMA

Head out in the company of a local guide passionate about all things Mallorca: its history, its culture and its architecture. This is a great opportunity to not only see the sights of the city but also to discover parts of Palma that only locals know about. The walk is relaxed and based around you, so you can be entirely spontaneous along the way.

PRIVATE VISIT TO AN OLIVE GROVE AND PA AMB OLI TASTING

There’s no better place to learn about Mallorca’s olive oil production than at the olive groves themselves. Head out to a beautiful estate that dates back to the 12th century, where you’ll learn the art of growing, harvesting and commercialising olive oil. Round off your visit with a traditional Pa Amb Oli picnic in the shade of the olive trees, with bread, cheese, local charcuterie and, naturally, plenty of ultra-fresh olive oil.
