Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Passports packed and out-of-offices on: your trip to Germany begins today. Head to the airport, speed through security and settle in for some nibbles in the lounge before boarding your two-hour flight to Berlin.

When you arrive, you’ll be met at the airport and privately transferred to your hotel. Check in, drop your bags and spend the rest of the day as you please, whether you’d rather head out to begin exploring or simply relax by the pool.

Come evening, head out for your first taste of traditional German fare – our clued-up Concierge is on hand to recommend some stellar restaurants.

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast this morning before heading out for a guided tour of the storied Spandauer Vorstadt district.

Once a working-class Jewish district deeply affected by World War II, this neighbourhood has been transformed into a creative hub, complete with art galleries, designer boutiques and contemporary courtyards. Along the way, your guide will fill you in on the area’s history, demonstrating how joy can emerge even from the most difficult of pasts.

After a relaxed afternoon, don your glad rags and venture out for a delicious dinner near the lively Alexanderplatz plaza. We’ll secure a reservation, so there’s no need to stand in any pesky queues – simply take a seat and enjoy an evening full of traditional dishes, all washed down with the finest natural wines.

We’ve left today free for you to enjoy at your own pace, perhaps with a morning stroll to one of Berlin’s buzzy cafés and an afternoon nap in the sun. If you didn’t quite get your fill of Berlin’s art scene yesterday, we can also arrange a guided tour of the Boros Collection, an incredible collection of contemporary art housed within a former bunker.

As night falls, head out to meet a local guide for an after-hours tour of the city. Your guide will tailor the tour to your interests, so fill them in on what you’d like to see as you wander along bustling streets and past landmarks illuminated against the night sky. You’ll also visit a few lesser-known spots, away from the usual crowds – now that’s what we call exclusive.

This morning, wave goodbye to Berlin as you pick up your rental car and begin the journey north, gazing out of the window as the buzzing capital gives way to Brandenburg’s pine forests, hamlets and lakes. If you’d like to stretch your legs along the way, pause in Rheinsberg, a picturesque town on the edge of Lake Grienericksee, and visit Rheinsberg Palace, once the home of Frederick II of Prussia.

Later, continue north into the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region, best known for its picturesque lakes. Wind your way past lush landscapes until you reach Leizen, a pretty town nestled close to the beautiful Muritz National Park. Check in and spend the rest of the day soaking in your new surroundings, perhaps with a relaxing spa treatment or dip in the pool. You are on holiday, after all…

Spend your final full day discovering Muritz National Park. Home to the eponymous Muritz Lake – the largest lake located entirely in Germany – this biodiverse sanctuary boasts a delightful mix of dense forests, verdant reedbeds and characterful villages.

Spend your day exploring on foot, by bike or sailing along the water, either independently or with a knowledgeable guide. As you soak up the peace and quiet of your surroundings, keep your eyes peeled (and cameras poised) for white-tailed eagles and graceful cranes soaring above you.

Later, return to your hotel and relax any weary legs with a p ersonalised spa?treatment, then head to the restaurant for a final dinner, toasting to your time in Germany.

It’s sadly time to leave the lush lake landscapes behind as you bundle your bags in the car for the drive back to Berlin, gliding past red-brick villages, vast pine forests and, finally, the hustle and bustle of the city.

When you arrive at the airport, return your rental car and board your two-hour flight home. Just enough time to dream up your next European getaway…

Suggestions

Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included

VISIT THE BOROS COLLECTION

Set in a former Nazi bunker, which subsequently served as a prison camp, a Russian intelligence headquarters, a fruit warehouse and a techno club, the Boros Collection is an incredible feat of contemporary art. This captivating collection is spread across five floors and showcases the work of around 60 artists, demonstrating both the best and the most tragic of Berlin’s storied history and culture.

WITH A FEW MORE DAYS…

VISIT RUGEN

Not quite ready to go home yet? Instead of heading straight back to Berlin for your return flight, keep your hire car and tack on a few days in Rugen, just a few miles from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region. Set on the Baltic coast, spend your days revelling in the peace and quiet and soaking up the spectacular scenery – so spectacular, in fact, that it draws artists from across the country to capture its beauty.
