Combining spectacular beaches, rich culture and centuries of history, this nine-day getaway is the perfect way to discover Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Along the way, explore two of the country’s most charming cities, Split and Dubrovnik – both UNESCO World Heritage sites – as well as two of its most beautiful islands, Brac and Hvar. It’s an ideal route for travellers looking to balance historic exploration with relaxed island living.

Your journey begins in Split, where you’ll discover the Old Town on a private guided walk, tracing its Roman roots through atmospheric streets and hidden squares. From here, continue to the island of Brac for a few days of unwinding among pine forests, quiet coves and traditional stone villages.

Next, head to Hvar, known for its lively harbour, crystal-clear waters and nearby Pakleni Islands, best explored by kayak. Finally, travel south to Dubrovnik for the last night of your trip, where Medieval architecture and sweeping sea views provide a memorable finale.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Today marks the start of your Croatian adventure. Head to the airport, make your way through security and settle in for the roughly two-and-a-half-hour flight to Split.

When you arrive, a private driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel in the Veli Varos district, a quiet neighbourhood just moments from the Old Town.

Once you’ve checked in, take it easy for the rest of the day. Stretch your legs with a wander towards the waterfront or find a relaxed spot for dinner, then treat yourself to an early night, ready for tomorrow’s adventure.

After breakfast, it’s time to explore. Today, you’ll be taken on a two-hour guided walking tour of the Old Town, wandering through the maze of narrow streets and hidden squares and learning how the city grew from the remains of Diocletian’s Palace into the lively place it is today. Highlights include the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and Diocletian’s Cellars, but there’s plenty more tucked between them.

Once the tour wraps up, the rest of the day is yours. You might head up Marjan Hill for sweeping views over the city or take things slower with a walk along the waterfront. You’ll likely have worked up an appetite, so consult our Dossier for recommendations on where to stop for a bite to eat.

Wave goodbye to Split this morning as you’re privately transferred to the port to catch the boat to Brac. The crossing takes around half an hour, offering your first proper glimpse of the Dalmation islands from the water.

When you arrive in Bol, a pretty coastal town in southern Brac, you’ll be privately transferred to your hotel, tucked away behind a leafy garden.

Once settled, make your way to the beach, enjoying the scents of pine, rosemary and lavender along the way. Keen to try some Croatian cuisine this evening? Contact our clued-up Concierge for the best tried-and-tested eateries in Bol.

You’ve got the next two days to discover the island of Brac. Start with Zlatni Rat, the island’s most famous beach, known for its distinctive arrowhead shape and clear waters. Lounging away the hours on this beach is a must-do, along with visiting the nearby winery to sample some of Bol’s local wines.

From there, explore further – perhaps a visit to the Blaca Monastery, dramatically set into the rock, the Brac Museum, housed in Radojkovik Castle, or the Dominican Monastery, home to myriad antiques and artefacts. If you’d prefer to keep things calm, set off on a drive inland to discover quiet villages and scenic viewpoints (don’t forget your camera).

Feeling active? Cycling is a great way to see more of the island, with coastal roads leading to hidden coves and small harbours like Milna. Once you’ve been suitably wowed, evenings are best spent enjoying drinks overlooking the Adriatic.

This morning, continue your island-hopping journey with a 20-minute boat journey to Hvar, a livelier stop with plenty to explore. When you arrive, a private transfer will whisk you to your hotel, a traditional Dalmatian property ideally located near the harbour and main square. You’re close to everything here, from restaurants and bars to the waterfront promenade.

Spend the afternoon getting your bearings with a swim, a wander through the town or a drink by the sea. As evening sets in, Hvar comes to life, with a relaxed but humming atmosphere that’s hard to resist. End the day with a Mediterranean dinner served in the hotel restaurant – fresh seafood, anyone?

This morning, enjoy an early breakfast before you head off on a private guided kayak tour of the Pakleni Islands, an archipelago of small islands off Hvar’s coast. Alongside an expert guide, glide through the waves in a kayak, discovering the islands’ wild coves, hidden bays and crystal-clear waters.

Back on land, the afternoon is yours, whether you’d rather lounge on the beach or explore the old town’s winding streets. Later that evening, raise a toast to island life on your final night, then take one last evening stroll along the waterfront.

Today, take to the water again as you hop on a catamaran bound for Dubrovnik. Departing from the port of Hvar, you’ll travel up the Adriatic coast and arrive in Dubrovnik after a three-hour journey.

When you arrive, a private driver will be waiting to take you to your historic hotel, where you’ll spend your final night. After settling in and freshening up, head out to make the most of this vibrant city.

Game of Thrones fans, don’t miss walking the one-and-a-quarter-mile perimeter of the city walls, marvelling at the terracotta roofs and towers of Dubrovnik (or King’s Landing) below. Head to the Rector’s Palace or Dominican Monastery to step back in time, before strolling along the main pedestrian street, stopping for souvenirs and one last tasty dinner.

Savour your final breakfast in the hotel garden this morning before you’re privately transferred back to the airport. The flight back to the UK takes around two-and-a-half hours, giving you just enough time to flick through photos and reflect on a week of island hopping, historic cities and Adriatic swims.
