There are few places we'd rather spend a few days in the saddle than the Andalucian countryside, which is why this five-day luxury riding holiday is one of our favourite equestrian Big Short Breaks.

Route

Everything is 100% tailored to you
DAY 1

International Flight

There are a few flights from the UK to Seville, so depending on which one you pick you will arrive at some point between late afternoon and early evening. Luggage in hand, one of our team on the ground will meet you for a private transfer to your boutique hotel, which should take about an hour. By this point it will likely be time for sundowners and food, so we've booked you in to the restaurant for dinner and drinks.

DAY 2

Horsing Around

This morning you will make your way to a nearby hacienda, where your expert guide will meet you for a chat about your equestrian experience and so the team can ascertain your skill level before matching you up with a mount for the ride. From here you will tack-up and climb into the saddle for a two and a half hour ride. Farmers often leave their horses to graze along the way, so you could find yourself riding in a pack of horses! You will ride through olive groves, sunflower fields and pine copses before you reach your lunch spot, where you will tuck in to piles of salads, roast pork and delicious local cakes.

After lunch you will make your way back to your hotel to spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool.

DAY 3

Back in the Saddle

This morning you will make your way to a nearby polo farm, about an hour and 15 minutes from your hotel. After mounting your horse, you will head off through the hilly park land. As you make your way through oak and cork forests your guide will point out local flora and fauna. If you like there will also be the chance to have a good gallop. Following an al fresco lunch, you will make your way to Seville to meet your expert guide, who will take you on a tour of the city's secret corners. As you wander around the city, you will drop in on Moorish palaces, convents where nuns make ends meet selling jams and marmalades and tiny ceramics shops with tiles piled high in dusty corners. If you feel peckish, your guide will be able to show you some wonderful tapas spots before dinner - we recommend staying in the city to eat this evening.

DAY 4

The White Villages of Andalusia

This morning you will visit some of Andalusia's most charming pueblos blancos (whitewashed towns) that top the hills and sierras of the region. Once upon a time, they served as strategic fortresses along the border between Muslim and Christian Spain, until Granada was conquered by Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492. Today, they are far more peaceful places full of charming whitewashed houses and geraniums tumbling from ubiquitous flowerpots. As you make your way around the area, you will visit historic monuments, olive oil presses and merino wool producers - where it would be rude to not pick up at least a scarf.

This evening you will make your way back to your hotel in time for a sumptuous supper.

DAY 5

International Flight

After a lazy morning, you will be privately transferred back to Seville airport in time for your three-hour afternoon flight home. Depending on which one we've booked for you, you will arrive between early and late evening.
