Starting from between £4540 to £6260 per person for 7 days depending on the season of travel, advance booking time and the accommodation and activities chosen

Itinerary Highlights

  • Stay in private villas in Azrarag, Tighmert and Aoujou
  • Ride on a mule to an old fortified granary, Agadir of Amtoudi
  • Spend a night camping under the starry desert sky beside Lake Iriqui
  • Marvel at picturesque palm groves in Tighmert and Akka
This exclusive road trip through southern Morocco’s most beautiful landscapes is split into five magical stages. Travel from Azrarag, famous for its argan forests, to Skoura and its UNESCO-protected palmeraie (palm grove), passing through oases and red sand dunes along the way. With a private 4x4 driver, a butler and accommodation largely to yourself, this is a road trip adventure like no other.

For the first three stages of this trip – encompassing the ‘Argan Valley’ near Azrarag, Tighmert’s palm groves and Ait Issafen – you’ll stay far from the usual tourist spots in private villas complete with spectacular terrace views. We’ve planned visits to traditional granaries and lunches in unusual spots to give you a taste of what these regions are all about. Then, head into the desert near the formerly-dry Lake Iriqui to spend a night camping underneath the starry sky. Finally, in the palm grove of Skoura, you’ll have a beautifully restored kasbah (historic fortress) as your base. Here, the villas have private pools and rooms are surrounded by beautiful gardens. Camel rides, walks in picturesque valleys and trips to the hammam (traditional baths) are all par for the course, while excellent food, wine and service complete the experience during your final few days in Morocco.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Your exclusive seven-day road trip in southern Morocco begins with a flight to Agadir, which takes just under four hours from the UK. When you arrive, you’ll be whisked away by private transfer to Azrarag, which takes around half an hour.

Tonight, you’ll stay in a beautiful stone house clinging to the hillside that looks out across a verdant valley of argan trees. We’ll arrange for you to have a massage when you arrive to help you unwind after your journey. After that, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you please in this luxurious space – a drink on the terrace as you gaze out at the spellbinding view is a must.

Today, leave Azrarag behind as you’re driven south to your next destination, Tighmert, around three hours away. En route, stop in the lovely Souss Massa region for a relaxing lunch before arriving in Tighmert, a small village home to one of Morocco’s largest palm groves. Spend the night in charming accommodation and enjoy a delicious authentic meal before hitting the hay.

The next stop on your marvellous Moroccan road trip is the Agadir of Amtoudi, located around two hours away. This fortified granary was used up until the 1950s, and you’ll complete the final ascent to it either on foot or on the back of a mule. Enjoy a tasty lunch on site with a picturesque panorama to match, before driving for a further two hours to Akka, home to one of the most beautiful palm groves in southern Morocco.

When you’ve finished exploring, continue your drive for another three hours until you reach Aojou – not far from Ait Issafen – and your exclusive accommodation for the night, set in a timeless red stone building that seduces with its breathtaking mountain views.

Another day, another destination. Today, you’ll be driven for around four hours l to reach Ait Kine, an Amazigh mountain village home to a fully restored collective granary and other historic treasures. . Lunch is a picnic in this charming spot before you hit the road again.

This time, you’re heading into the desert to a nomadic camp on the shores of the seasonal Lake Iriqui, which was dry for over 50 years. Your tent boasts a terrace where you can relax and gaze at the twinkling stars and the surrounding sand dunes. Come nightfall, lose yourself in the magical experience of being enveloped in the silence of the desert.

Today, you’ll be driven to the palm grove of Skoura for the final stage of your trip. Spend two nights here in a traditional house set in a beautiful garden where almond trees, rosebushes and jasmines set the tranquil tone.

There’s plenty to do while you’re here, whether it’s a siesta in the shade of century-old palm trees or riding a camel or mule. To relax, take a dip in the swimming pool or head to the hammam for a blissful massage. If you want to explore, wander the valley of almond trees to see the white flowers in bloom, or trek in the Valley of Roses. We’ll also arrange for you to take a cooking class and enjoy themed evenings in the dar (house). Finally, don’t miss a sunset aperitif in the candlelit garden where you can raise a toast to your fabulous adventure.

Sadly your road trip adventure has come to an end. So, enjoy one last breakfast in the idyllic garden and take some last-minute snaps before your driver whisks you to the airport in Ouarzazate. Flights back to the UK take around eight hours, including a connecting flight in Morocco.
