A City Break in Budapest
What we came up with
A long weekend to savour the sights, wines, thermal baths and dining of beautiful Budapest - one of our favourite 'Big Short Break' destinations.

- Arriving in Budapest, make your way to Brody House to settle in for a three night stay in the city. Dating back to the 19th century and housing both boho arty types and (unofficially) the Prime Minister in its history, today this private members club is one of the trendiest boutique hotels in the city. We'll make a dinner reservation in advance, but be sure to tap up the in-the-know concierge for some drinking spots this evening.
- Spend today exploring the sights of the city at leisure. Explore some of the 23 districts that straddle the Danube in Buda (western bank) and Pest (eastern), sampling sweet sticky apricot jam in roadside cafes, full bodied reds in moody wine bars, and warming, hearty ghoulash in family run restaurants as you go.
- This morning, meet your private guide for a behind-the-scenes tour of some the city's beautiful Palaces. In the nineteenth century, Budapest's aristocrats and barons shaped the eighth district - known as the Palace District - into a masterpiece of ostentatious, palatial residences. During your tour, explore the interiors of some of these stunning residences - usually closed to the public - with your guide, a scholar who lives in the city. Following your walking tour, this afternoon is at leisure. This may be the perfect time to visit one of the grand public baths in the city - we'll give you the inside-track on which one to choose.
- A final morning to explore the city before returning to the airport for your departing flight.
A rough idea of price
A similar itinerary would cost from £670 per person, which includes all flights, hotels, and organised trips as described. Please note that prices can fluctuate dependent upon season and international flight availability.
A note about prices
The guide prices shown are designed to provide you with a broad indication of how much to budget for your trip. Prices are generally for private arrangements using economy flights based on two people travelling together and sharing a room. There are a number of factors which will influence the price; these include the standard of accommodation, the season, the class of flights, the airline used and the level of private guiding versus shared excursions.
