Spend eight days in Spain, splitting your time between two very different spots on the same stretch of Mediterranean coast. Your first three nights are in Valencia – a city that tends to surprise visitors who arrive expecting beaches and leave having spent most of their time in the old town, the central market and the extraordinary City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias). We’ll arrange a guided walk through the historic centre and include entry to the arts complex for you during your stay.

The second half of the trip moves south to the Costa Blanca, to a quietly exceptional private estate near Sagra, a small village between Valencia and Alicante that most drive straight past – which is exactly why we love it. The surrounding countryside is quiet and life feels unhurried; the coastline is close enough to reach easily and far enough from the main resorts to feel like another kind of Spain entirely. While you’re here, enjoy a day of hiking with a private guide in the Montgo Natural Park – a protected massif rising between Denia and Javea, home to a remarkable concentration of plant species, which are representative of the Valencian coast and Mediterranean scrubland, with views from the higher paths that stretch out over both towns and the sea beyond. Time in either Denia or Javea follows, depending on your preference, and the rest of the trip is yours to fill as slowly as the setting encourages.

As you leave Valencia, you’ll pick up a hire car so you can travel at your own pace to your next stop, and if you want to extend your trip, the Ibiza ferry from Denia is a short drive away. Our Concierge will be on the ground throughout to help with any last minute changes, reservations or other requests you may have.

Suggestions

Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included

EXPLORE THE OLD TOWN OF ALTEA

Altea’s hilltop old town overlooks the coast and boasts the kind of whitewashed, cobbled character that the Mediterranean does so well: narrow streets, a ceramic-domed church and views from the miradors that stretch across the bay. A private guide will take you through the most photogenic corners and the quieter spots that most visitors miss.

WITH A FEW EXTRA DAYS: IBIZA

If you’ve got time to spare, extend your trip with a few nights in Ibiza. The ferry from Denia to Ibiza takes around two hours, and on arrival you can expect an island that is more layered than its reputation suggests. Behind the clubs and the crowds, there are UNESCO-listed Phoenician sites at Puig des Molins and Sa Caleta, the salt flats of Ses Salines Natural Park, farm-to-table restaurants and a permaculture market culture that has been quietly thriving since the hippies arrived and, in spirit at least, never quite left.
