Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Your Slovenia culinary holiday begins today with a direct two-and-a-quarter-hour flight to Ljubljana. When you arrive, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred 90 minutes to your hotel in the pretty seaside town of Portoroz. Check in and freshen up before meeting your guide for a private afternoon tour of Piran, just a ten-minute drive away.

Considered to be one of the most beautiful towns on the Slovenian coast, Piran oozes charm and authenticity, with its medieval walled centre, historic church and terracotta-roofed houses. During your tour, you'll have the chance to explore the narrow streets of the Old Town, wander around Tartini Square and enjoy a short walk by the sea.

Return to your hotel this evening for a delicious dinner at its fine-dining restaurant, tucking into a seasonal menu (featuring refined Mediterranean cuisine) and sampling the extensive wine list.

This morning, meet your driver and journey inland to Vipava, approximately one hour away.

Your first stop is the Zemono Manor House, where you’ll sample the delights of its Michelin-starred restaurant, Gostilna pri Lojzetu. Considered one of the top culinary spots in the country, this is a food lover's haven, with a magnificent menu centred on the finest seasonal flavours.

After lunch, drive 45 minutes further to the Goriska Brda wine region, where you’ll check into your next hotel. Unpack and freshen up before heading straight back out for a guided tour of the area, which includes a visit to the viewing tower in Gonjace, a wander around the historic village of Smartno and a trip to Dobrovo Castle.

After your tour, you’ll be whisked to a local wine producer for a private wine tasting experience led by a professional sommelier. Come dinnertime, return to your hotel to indulge in your second Michelin-starred meal at the renowned Gredic restaurant. Cheers…

Enjoy a slow start today with a tasty breakfast and leisurely morning, before being privately transferred 50 minutes to Kobarid, a peaceful area surrounded by lush green countryside and towering mountain peaks.

Your accommodation for the night is a charming countryside inn with a two-Michelin-star restaurant. Come evening, enjoy a tasty dinner here – the owners are closely knit with the area's foragers, shepherds, cheese makers, hunters and fishermen, so you can expect some of the freshest food around on your plate tonight.

This morning, you’ll be driven through lush green countryside to Vila Podvin, another Michelin-starred restaurant just two hours away. Once a simple stable and now a beautiful restaurant, Vila Podvin has a reputation as a fantastic foodie spot, serving traditional dishes crafted with the finest local ingredients.

Suitably stuffed, begin the drive back to Ljubljana, stopping at the beautiful Lake Bled en route. Surrounded by the towering peaks of the Slovenian Alps and with a small island and castle in the centre of the lake, this is a truly idyllic spot.

Boat out to Bled Island for a tour of its mighty castle, then wander around the lush green grounds and visit the Church of Assumption. As you explore, don't miss the chance to taste the famous Bled cream cake, a delicious dessert complete with crisp pastry, vanilla custard and whipped cream.

Later, continue on to Ljubljana, approximately one hour away, and check into your hotel for the next two nights.

Rise bright and early this morning for a full day spent exploring the beautiful city of Ljubljana.

After breakfast, meet your guide and set off on a private walking tour around the Old Town, where you’ll see some of Ljubljana's main attractions, including the Town Hall, Krizanke open-air theatre, Napoleon monument and Central Food market, as well as postcard-perfect squares and bridges.

After your walking tour, hop into a traditional wooden boat to continue your sightseeing along the Ljubljanica River, drifting past some of the Old Town's major sights. Then, swap rivers for rails as you catch the city's funicular railway to Ljubljana Castle to learn about its storied history. Refuel with a magnificent Michelin-star meal at the castle’s Strelec Restaurant, headed up by one of the top chefs in the country.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy however you wish, whether you’d rather continue exploring the pretty streets at your own pace or return to your hotel for some R&R.

This morning, wave goodbye to the capital as you’re privately transferred one and a half hours to Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest city. Check into your hotel, drop your bags and head back out for a scenic wine tour accompanied by an experienced sommelier.

Along the way, drive past some of the region's most iconic vineyards, stop for a wine tasting experience in the Vinag Wine Cellar, one of the largest and oldest wine cellars in Europe, and pay a visit to the Old Vine House, Maribor’s oldest wine shop and museum.

All that exploring will likely have worked up an appetite, so we’ve booked a table at the Michelin-starred Hisa Denk restaurant, just 15 minutes from Maribor. Dishes here are inspired by traditional recipes with a modern twist, and are accompanied by an extensive wine list (naturally).

Enjoy a leisurely start today with a chilled morning in Maribor before meeting your private driver for the two-hour journey to Otocec Castle. Set on a picturesque river island, this beautiful old building has been transformed into a luxurious hotel complete with a fine dining restaurant.

Unpack and settle in, then head down for a private wine tasting experience in the castle's winery. Delicious wines have been produced in the Dolenjska region for centuries, and you'll have the chance to learn about (and taste) some of the local varietals.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the hotel's beautiful grounds, then take a seat in the restaurant for the final meal of your Slovenia culinary tour. The food here is as fresh as it gets: think seasonal vegetables, fresh berries and fragrant herbs collected from the castle's organic garden.

It’s sadly time for your culinary tour across Slovenia to come to an end. After one last delicious breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be privately transferred one hour back to Ljubljana to catch the two-hour-and-20-minute flight home.
