100% customisable for you
Rise and shine: your grand tour of Rajasthan begins today. Head to the airport, speed through security and relax in the lounge before boarding your overnight flight to Delhi. The journey will take around nine hours, arriving the next morning.
Once you touch down, you’ll be met at the airport and whisked away by private transfer to a cosy hotel in the heart of the city. You’ll likely be tired after all that travelling, so spend the rest of the day relaxing, whether you’d rather soak up the sun on the terrace or lounge in the conservatory.
If you fancy a spot of exploring this evening, we can arrange for you to witness the closing ceremony at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, the largest Sikh temple in Delhi. Each night, a grand ceremony takes place to store away the Sikh holy texts (Guru Granth Sahib). Complete with vibrant songs and a peaceful procession, this is a great opportunity to gain an insight into local customs and religious traditions.
This morning, head out to explore Delhi with a knowledgeable local guide. As you wander through this fascinating megalopolis, your guide will share their love of the city with you, from its well-known hotspots to its hidden gems. The tour will be tailored to your preferences, and is a great opportunity to discuss life in Delhi while gathering advice and recommendations for the rest of your trip.
After your tour, you’ll be privately transferred to the airport for the two-hour flight to Jaisalmer. On arrival, you’ll be met by your friendly driver, who’ll accompany you for the rest of your trip. They will transfer you to your new hotel, where you’ll be staying for the next two nights. Check in, drop your bags in your room and enjoy a tasty dinner in the hotel restaurant before flopping into bed, ready for more exploring tomorrow.
Known affectionately as the ‘Golden City’, Jaisalmer sits in the heart of the Thar Desert, away from the hustle and bustle of Rajasthan’s transport hubs. Today, explore the city with a private guide, learning all about its distinctive yellow architecture and fascinating history.
Begin with a tour of Jaisalmer’s havelis, the intricately carved former homes of wealthy spice, date, opium and indigo merchants, before wandering along the city’s streets, passing amber buildings with vibrant green shutters, ornate Jain temples complete with smiling sculptures and bustling markets piled high with textiles and jewellery.
Next, visit the renowned Jaisalmer Fort. Built in 1156 AD, this impressive structure is one of the few remaining living forts in India, with almost a quarter of the city’s population still residing within its walls. Finally, head slightly further out of the city to Bada Bagh, a sprawling garden complex home to a number of royal cenotaphs dedicated to Jaisalmer’s former Maharajas and Maharawals.
This morning, hop back in the car for the six-hour drive from Jaisalmer to Rohet, a small village set just south of Jodhpur. Boasting beautiful landscapes, rich culture and friendly locals, this tiny town offers a perfect break from the city.
You’ll be staying here for the next two nights, so check into your new home and spend the rest of the day unwinding, whether you’d rather stroll around the peaceful gardens or cool off in the pool.
Another day, another tour. This morning, head out for a private tour of Jodhpur, known as the Blue City for its vibrant indigo hues. Alongside a private guide, stroll along a labyrinth of winding alleyways to Mehrangarh Fort, a sandstone fortress that towers 400ft over the city. Once inside, you’ll find glowing stained glass, intricate motifs and traditional royal clothing and musical instruments.
Next, continue on to Ranakpur, just south of Jodhpur. This small city is home to one of the county’s biggest (and most beautiful) Jain pilgrimage sites: the Ranakpur Jain temple. Dedicated to Adinath, one of the Jain’s first Tirthankaras (spiritual teachers), the temple boasts 80 domes, 400 columns and a whopping 1,400 hand-carved stone pillars, including one depicting Adinath himself.
Today, your grand tour continues as your friendly driver whisks you five hours south to Udaipur, where you’ll be staying for the next two nights. Once you arrive, drop your bags and spend a few hours settling in, enjoying a tasty lunch in the hotel restaurant.
In the late afternoon, set off on a boat trip across nearby Lake Pichola. As you drift along the lake, you’ll be treated to a sweeping view of the city’s temples and islands as the sun sets over the water.
Back at your hotel, treat yourself to a sundowner on the roof terrace before a delicious dinner.
Udaipur is one of Rajasthan’s most charming cities, and we’ve left this morning free for you to explore it. Wander along narrow streets lined with beautiful white houses and havelis, discover the peaceful gardens at the City Palace or Saheliyon-ki-Bari and pay a visit to one of the most important religious buildings in Udaipur: Jagdish Temple.
In the afternoon, venture one-and-a-half hours out of the city for a private tour of Chittorgarh, an eighth-century citadel built on a rocky plateau. This impressive complex is home to palaces, temples, pools and, perhaps most importantly, beautiful vistas over the surrounding countryside.
To unwind after your day of exploring, we can also arrange a relaxing Shirodhara session, an Ayurvedic treatment that relaxes the nervous system and soothes the mind. Prefer something a little more active? Take part in a private yoga class instead, learning the basics of this native practice from an experienced instructor.
It’s time to swap Udaipur for somewhere equally as charming: the small, picturesque village of Barli. This morning, meet your trusty driver for the five-hour journey, keeping an eye out for rolling hills, colourful villages and pretty lakes.
Once you arrive, spend the rest of the day relaxing in your simple yet luxurious accommodation or head out for a scenic walk around the nearby lake.
Today, your driver will transport you to Jaipur, a five-and-a-half-hour drive away. On arrival, treat yourself to afternoon tea with a view or simply decompress after the journey.
If you’re still raring to go, we can arrange a cooking class today, led by a local chef. After heading to the market to pick up fresh ingredients, learn how to use traditional techniques to prepare a meal before sitting down to enjoy your delicious creations.
You’ve already seen the Golden and Blue Cities on your grand tour, and today is all about discovering Rajasthan’s lively ‘Pink City’. Jaipur is one of India’s most charming cities, boasting an attractive blend of old and new, with Mughal and Rajput-style architecture sitting side by side with British colonial influences.
Jaipur is also considered to be India’s capital of craftsmanship, so later today, head out on a private tour of its workshops. Alongside an expert guide, learn all about traditional methods used to produce wool, linen, jewellery, gold and silver leaf, which have been passed down from generation to generation. The city is particularly famous for its beautiful gemstones, from diamonds and sapphires to rubies and emeralds, and you’ll have the chance to watch as these sparkling stones are cut, polished and set.
As you go from workshop to workshop to see these incredible artisans at work, sample some culinary specialities offered by the city’s street vendors – think spiced samosas and savoury pakoras.
Today, wave goodbye to Jaipur as you hop back in the car for the four-hour drive to Agra. If you fancy stretching your legs along the way, stop to visit the imperial city of Fatehpur Sikri, home to one of the largest mosques in India. In the 16th century, it was the capital of the Mughal Empire; today, it’s an open-air museum of red sandstone, comprising perfectly preserved pools, courtyards and palaces.
Once you’ve had your fill of exploring, set off for the remainder of the journey towards your home for the night. On arrival, drop your bags in your room and then it’s time to relax; take a stroll around the gardens, lounge by the pool and enjoy a delicious evening meal before diving into bed for a good night’s sleep.
Rise early this morning for a sunrise visit to one of India’s most iconic landmarks: the Taj Mahal. Commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his wife, this pearly palace is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and you’ll be able to admire the white marble building as it’s bathed in early-morning sunlight. Afterwards, head to the Red Fort, an imposing red sandstone citadel, and the mausoleum of Itmad-Ud-Daulah.
This afternoon, jump into the car for the three-and-a-half-hour journey back to Delhi. After checking into your hotel, head straight back out for a rickshaw tour of Old Delhi, discovering its traditional districts and remarkable landmarks. Begin at the Jama Masjid Mosque, a grand structure featuring three huge marble domes and a vast esplanade that can accommodate up to 25,000 worshippers.
Next, continue to the Red Fort and Town Hall before visiting some important religious sites, including the Gauri Shankar temple or the Sri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir. Finally, leave the rickshaw behind and wander around the largest spice market in Asia, soaking up the captivating colours and mouthwatering scents.
Your grand tour of Rajasthan has sadly come to an end. This morning, you’ll be privately transferred to the airport to board your flight back to the UK. The journey takes just under 11 hours, and thanks to the time difference you’ll arrive back home this evening, armed with a newfound appreciation for this enchanting Indian region.
