Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Your Roman adventure begins today, so gather the little ones and head to the airport for your two-and-a-half-hour flight. Upon touchdown, you'll be privately transferred to your hotel in the heart of the city. Next, grab your cameras and set off on your first exploration of the Italian capital. Lose yourselves in Rome's iconic neighbourhoods, including charming Trastevere and foodie Testaccio. If little legs grow weary, seek out the tastiest gelato in the city to keep energy levels up (your clued-up Concierge can recommend their favourite gelateria).

After an afternoon trotting around Rome, consult our Dossier for a list of delicious dinner spots in the city. Tuck into hearty bowls of cacio e pepe, carbonara or amatriciana before slowly wandering (or rolling) back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Hit the ground running on the first full day of your Italian escape with a tasty breakfast and a cappuccino or two, fuel for today’s agenda: a guided tour of the smallest country in the world, Vatican City.

At the Vatican gates, your family-friendly guide will be waiting for you with skip-the-line tickets. For the next three hours, strap in for a fun, interactive exploration as you visit the fascinating Vatican Museums, including the spectacular Sistine Chapel and Gallery of Maps. Eager for more after your tour? Climb the dome at St Peter's Basilica, where you can marvel at Michelangelo’s masterpiece and the sweeping views across St. Peter’s Square.

After your culture-packed morning, tuck into more delicious Italian fare to refuel. After lunch, enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the Botanical Garden or a spot of shopping in the bohemian neighbourhood of Monti.

Today, travel back in time to ancient Rome with a family-friendly tour of the colossal Colosseum. Re-enact famous gladiatorial combats with your children as your expert guide brings the history of the largest amphitheatre in the world to life. This three-hour tour also includes the Roman Forum, the ancient city’s centre for public life, and Palatine Hill, home to emperors’ mighty palaces. By the end of the tour, the whole brood will be bona fide historians.

For lunch, sample iconic Roman street food like suppli (deep-fried rice croquettes) and trapizzino (a stuffed pizza pocket). Then, wander as many streets as little and large legs will allow, taste as many gelato flavours as you can and feast on as much fantastic food as possible – it’s your final full day in the city, after all. Why not put this morning’s newfound knowledge of ancient Rome to the test with a family quiz over dinner this evening?

Sadly, your jam-packed Roman adventure comes to an end today. Make sure you’ve filled every spare inch of your suitcases with Italian goodies before you take a private transfer back to the airport. Relax on the short two-and-a-half-hour flight home, touching down on UK soil full of memories from your trip.
