Further afield, and continuing with the impressive accolades, you’ll find the largest lake in Central America – Lake Nicaragua – dotted with hundreds of small islands known as Las Isletas. Ometepe Island (the largest of the islands) is famous for its twin volcanoes, one of which is still very much active. Spend a day travelling through the archipelago by boat, stopping off at a selection of Las Isletas.
