The best things come in pairs – and we’re not just talking about you two. Singapore and Malaysia make the dream duo, and this 13-day trip showcases the very best of both.

The fun (and the romance) kicks off in Singapore, where you can admire a flurry of blooms in the Flower Dome, before cooling off in the Cloud Forest, where indoor waterfalls tumble through a misty canopy.

Next, cross the border into Malaysia, where your first stop is the historic trading port of Malacca. Join a guide to explore its multicultural neighbourhoods and places of worship, rounding things off at Jonker Street, where all those cultural influences intertwine in one delicious street food feast. Then, dive into the glitz and glamour of the capital, Kuala Lumpur, where a local will show you around the city’s grandest sights.

The adventure ramps up in the ancient rainforest of Taman Negara, where you’ll embark on jungle hikes, brave suspension bridges high above the forest floor and venture out on moonlit walks in search of the jungle’s nocturnal residents.

And for the grand finale? The tropical island of Pulau Tengah, where days are best spent exploring the turquoise waters and taking the plunge for a spot of snorkelling. And just like that, you’ll likely be completely smitten with this slice of paradise (and even more so with your travel companion).

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

After lots of daydreaming, counting down the sleeps and checking the weather forecast, your romantic escape begins today. Head to the airport, breeze through security and settle into the lounge for a celebratory tipple before boarding.

It’s a direct 14-hour overnight flight to Singapore, so pick a good rom-com to watch, snuggle up in your seats and try to catch some sleep before touchdown.

When you arrive the next morning, you’ll be whisked away by private transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city – your base for the next two nights.

Feeling peckish after the long journey? Follow the irresistible aromas into lantern-lined Chinatown and dive chopstick-first into Singapore’s legendary street food scene, where steaming bowls of noodles, crispy roast duck and pillowy bao buns all vie for your attention.

At nightfall, head to the Supertree Grove for the mesmerising Garden Rhapsody show, where dazzling lights illuminate the trees in perfect harmony with the music. Let the oohing and aahing commence...

Nothing says romance quite like stopping to smell the roses... and you’ll find a whole lot more than roses inside the Flower Dome. Step inside this giant glasshouse and wander winding pathways through Mediterranean-inspired gardens and exotic plants from all over the world.

Next, head into the Cloud Forest, where one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls is framed by a lush canopy of greenery. It’s one of Singapore’s most iconic photo spots, so make sure to snap plenty of selfies.

The rest of the day is all yours. Perhaps head to a local art market, where vintage antiques have a habit of catching your eye... and somehow finding their way into your suitcase. Is your other half an avid history buff? Marvel at ancient wonders in the Asian Civilisations Museum, the Peranakan Museum or the Singapore Art Museum.

This evening, don your finest attire, make your way to the lavish Raffles Hotel and clink glasses over a classic Singapore Sling.

Love is in the air... and so is the excitement, because today you’re crossing into Malaysia. You’ll be whisked away by private transfer on the three-and-a-half-hour journey west across the border to Malacca.

When you arrive, check in for a one-night stay at your charming guesthouse. Then, lace up your comfiest walking shoes and join your local guide for a greatest hits tour of Malacca. Back in its trading heyday, the city was the epicentre of Southeast Asia’s spice trade, and you can still see echoes of that past in its colonial-era architecture and rich tapestry of cultures and communities.

Amble along the banks of the Malacca River, and marvel at the Christ Church, the ornate Kampung Kling Mosque and deity-embellished Hindu temples. Wrap up the tour on Jonker Street, where at sunset, it transforms into a whirlwind of sizzling street-food stalls. Smoky satays, anyone?

Fuel up with a refreshing kopi ais (Malaysian iced coffee) and a traditional breakfast this morning before your two-hour private transfer to the glitzy capital, Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps ask your driver to tune into our destination-specific playlist, then sit back and enjoy the ride.

When you arrive, check in to your centrally located hotel – your home for the next two nights. Drop your bags and then make a beeline for the pool... or the cocktail bar. Fancy taking your R&R to another level? Perhaps book in for a couple's spa treatment.

Then, keep those good vibes going (and bypass any dinner deliberations) with a restaurant recommendation from our local Concierge. They know exactly where to find the most flavoursome and fiery laksa – Malaysia’s much-loved noodle soup.

Rise and shine early this morning and meet your local guide for a tour of Kuala Lumpur.

If your other half fancies themselves an architecture aficionado, they’ll be in their element here. Admire the colonial-era grandeur of KL’s Old Railway Station, the ornate Jamek Mosque and the incense-swirled Sin Sze Si Ya Temple. And it wouldn’t be a Malaysian tour without a few tasty pit stops, so explore the dizzying Central Market, where your guide knows exactly where to find the best roti canai (flaky flatbread).

Between bites, cast your eyes skywards to Merdeka 118, the second tallest building in the world, sharing the spotlight with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Wrap up the tour at Titiwangsa Lake or Perdana Botanical Gardens, ideal for a peaceful stroll and a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up. A chilled coconut shake should do just the trick...

Still hungry for more? We can also arrange a guided street food tour of Kuala Lumpur’s most beloved hotspots.

This morning, you’ll be privately transferred on the three-and-a-half-hour journey to Taman Negara National Park, with the scenery growing wilder with every mile until you’re in the thick of the jungle. When you arrive, check in for two nights at your cosy lodge.

The rest of the day is all yours, so apply a generous spritz of mozzie spray and perhaps hit up one of the nature trails. This ancient rainforest, believed to be over 130 million years old harbours an extraordinary array of wildlife, from Malayan tapirs and sun bears to vividly coloured birds flitting through the greenery. Who will be the first to spot a crested fireback?

Gather around the campfire this evening for a feast of local specialties cooked over glowing coals. Then it’s all eyes to the skies. With barely any light pollution here, breaks in the rainforest canopy reveal a dazzling display of stars.

Forget the alarm clock this morning. As dawn breaks through the jungle, it erupts into a chorus of birdsong and distant hoots.

After breakfast, hike to Teresek Hill, where sweeping rainforest views make every puff and pant worthwhile. At the summit, your guide will share insights into Taman Negara’s wildlife, including the elusive Malayan tiger. Sightings are incredibly rare, but it’s a thrilling thought that somewhere below, one could be prowling through the jungle...

Afterwards, brave the suspension bridge, where you’ll enjoy a monkey’s-eye view of the jungle as long-tailed macaques swing through the branches.

Then, cruise along the Tembeling River to Lata Berkoh, where cascading waterfalls tumble into crystal-clear pools, before visiting the Kelah Fish Sanctuary, where shimmering mahseer thrive.

Come nightfall, venture out on a trek to experience the jungle in a whole new light (or rather, hardly any light at all). With your guide leading the way, search for nocturnal creatures, from sambar deer and quill-clad porcupines to all sorts of weird and wonderful creepy crawlies.

Another day, another adventure. After a breakfast platter of exotic fruit, grab your bags and meet your local driver for your five-and-a-half-hour private transfer to Mersing Pier. Here, board the 30-minute ferry crossing across the South China Sea to the island of Pulau Tengah, keeping your eyes peeled for surf-loving dolphins, often spotted frolicking in these waters.

When you arrive, make your way to your beachfront bungalow – your peaceful retreat for the next three nights.

Drop your bags, take a dip in the ocean and then claim a sun-drenched lounger or a palm-shaded patch of sand, perhaps with a coconut (or a spritzy cocktail) to celebrate your arrival? Or, if you fancy dialling up the bliss another notch, indulge in a traditional Ayurvedic couples’ massage.

As evening falls, end your day sun-kissed, salt-speckled and satisfied with a seafood supper on the beach, clinking glasses of rice wine as the setting sun casts everything in a golden glow. Cheers to that.

Lather on the sunscreen and charge the camera – the next two days are all about island adventures and making memories together.

Perhaps set sail to explore the azure waters of Johor Marine Park, try your hand at paddleboarding or hop into a kayak and drift along the island’s tranquil coastline. Fancy diving (literally) into a different side of Malaysia? Don a mask and flippers for a snorkelling excursion or strap on a scuba tank to discover coral reefs teeming with marine life.

Alternatively, seek out the island’s abundance of wildlife on foot. The biggest stars of the show are the monitor lizards, measuring up to a jaw-dropping 10ft long. And if you can tear your eyes away, scan the treetops for tropical birds and monkeys showing off their best acrobatic skills.

Wrap up your holiday with another restaurant recommendation from our local Concierge, who’ll know just the spot for a romantic candlelit dinner by the sea.

Time flies when you’re having fun and, sadly, your love-laced trip has come to an end. Tuck into one last island breakfast, soak up those final rays of vitamin D and then, however reluctantly, prise yourselves off the sunloungers for your ferry crossing back to Mersing Pier.

You’ll then be privately driven two-and-a-half-hours to Singapore Airport, where you can browse duty free (and perhaps pick up a last-minute gift for your partner) before your overnight flight home.

All in all, you’ll spend around 14 hours in the air; plenty of time to flick through your photos, relive the highlights and pitch your next trip idea to your other half...

Suggestions

Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included

WHAT’S ON THE MENU IN KUALA LUMPUR

Fancy a date night, Kuala Lumpur style? Forget white-cloth restaurants; all you need is a buzzing street food market, some plastic stools and a guide who knows exactly where to find the best bites. Follow the glow of the neon lights and clamour of pots and pans from Bukit Bintang into Jalan Alor, then hop from vendor to vendor as chefs splash oil into searing-hot woks and chop ingredients at lightning-fast speed. Sink your teeth into classics like nasi lemak (coconut rice served with spicy sambal) and char kway teow (stir-fried noodles with prawns, egg and beansprouts). Of course, no street food adventure is complete without dessert, so unleash your inner child as you pick and mix your way through colourful trays of traditional Indian mithai (sweets). Then there’s one final delicacy to tick off the foodie bucket-list: durian. Famous for its eye-watering aroma and fiercely debated flavour, this fruit is the ultimate love-it-or-hate-it experience and a rite of passage for many visitors. And if it turns out not to be your thing... well, perhaps your partner will finish it off instead.
