Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Your family adventure in fun-loving Florida starts today. Head to the airport, whizz through security and enjoy some downtime in the lounge. Then, board your nine-and-a-half-hour flight to Miami (make sure the iPad is fully charged to keep the youngsters entertained).

On arrival, hop in a private transfer to your first hotel: a stylish, family-friendly property just north of Miami Beach. The rest of today is yours to spend settling into your new all-American surroundings. Stroll along the beach, savour a refreshing cocktail or unwind in a poolside cabana – it was a long flight, after all.

Miami is a city that lives up to its hype. From soft sandy stretches and boutique shops to chic bars and stylish restaurants, you’re never far from glitz and glamour.

Today is all about embracing the city’s arty side. After a lovely lie-in (if the little ones allow), head to the Wynwood district with a local guide to discover your creative side. An artists' residence since the 1980s, Wynwood is now a hub for local and international graffiti artists.

Wander past over 200 murals, swing by pop-up galleries and weave through designer markets. Or, time your visit with one of the many festivals and concerts held throughout the year. Keen to discover your inner artist? Roll up your sleeves and enjoy a graffiti workshop this afternoon.

Rise and shine, it’s your last full day in Miami and there’s still plenty to discover. After a filling breakfast, you’ll be kitted out with bikes, helmets and a city map for your self-guided bike tour of Miami Beach. What’s a family holiday without a few wrong turns?

Ride along the bustling promenade, whizz past the pastel-hued Art Deco buildings of Ocean Drive and soak up the sights of South Beach’s golden sands and colourful lifeguard towers. Take a shady break in Lummus Park, or stop for lunch at one of our Dossier-recommended restaurants.

The rest of today is yours to spend as you please. Discover the charms of the iconic Art Deco district, or admire the coast from a fresh perspective on a private boat tour cruising around Biscayne Bay.

Let the road trip begin. Collect your hire car and swap Miami’s hustle and bustle for the laid-back Florida Keys, a string of tropical islands just off the state’s south coast. Stock up on snacks and tune into our destination-specific playlist for the one-and-a-half-hour drive to Islamorada, a charming village spanning six islands in the heart of the archipelago.

On arrival, check into your home for the next two nights – an elegant hotel on a picturesque white-sand beach. Spend the rest of today settling into the rhythm of island life: grab some equipment from the hotel and try your hand at big game fishing; opt for a watersports adventure; snorkel past the Alligator Reef on a guided tour; or glide around Sugarloaf Key in a transparent kayak – leave it up to the youngsters to decide.

After a tasty breakfast at your beachside hotel, make the most of your final day in the Keys. Begin with a visit to a small non-profit sea turtle hospital, where the whole family can learn about the rehabilitation of these endangered creatures. Round off your visit with a feeding session with some of the turtles who live here permanently.

After tucking into a delicious lunch, it’s back to the beach this afternoon for some family fun in the sun. Read your book in a plush lounger, play beach games, splash around with the little ones and savour a tasty Caribbean-inspired cocktail or two (soft drinks for the children).

Bid farewell to your tropical oasis and continue your family road trip across Florida. After a hearty breakfast, bundle the family back into your hire car and drive to Naples, a delightful city perched on the Gulf of Mexico’s shores. The journey takes around three hours, but a pit stop at the enchanting Everglades National Park offers the perfect break.

After arriving, swap your car for an airboat and cruise around the park with an experienced private guide. There’s plenty of wildlife to spot, so keep an eye out for manatees, panthers and flamingos. You’ll also swing by Gator Island, which, as the name suggests, is home to several species of alligators basking peacefully in the sun (just remind the little ones to keep their hands inside the boat).

On arrival in Naples, check into your comfortable hotel – a beautiful complex reminiscent of an Italian town – where you’ll stay for the next two nights.

Enjoy a leisurely lie-in this morning, before exploring Naples and its surrounding wilderness. This coastal city is known for its high-end clientele, so expect designer shops, pristine casinos and luxurious restaurants in the heart of town. For any budding artists in the family, the old town is the place to be, lined with art galleries and independent shops.

After you’ve consulted your clued-up Concierge for the best lunch spots, it’s time to answer the call of the wild and head to a nature reserve. With Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge and Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge all nearby, you’ll be spoilt for choice. As the day draws to a close, enjoy a gentle stroll along the beach and admire the stunning sunset from the pier.

Wave goodbye to Naples and hit the road for a four-hour drive north to Orlando, the theme park capital of the world, where you’ll spend the last three nights of your family holiday. Wind down this afternoon poolside at the hotel – you’ve earned it, after all.

Alternatively, we can arrange a few cultural pit stops on your journey. Visit the Dali Museum (opened in 1982 and redesigned in 2011) and the Morean Arts Center (founded in 1917) in St. Petersburg for your arty fix.

If there’s one place in the US that youngsters unfailingly love, it’s Orlando. End your trip on a high and delve into the city’s dizzying collection of amusement parks – our team will pre-arrange your entrance tickets to Universal Studios or Universal Islands of Adventure (or both, it’s up to you). The first plunges you into a wealth of cinematic worlds, from Harry Potter and Men in Black to Despicable Me and Woody Woodpecker, while the second is centred around Marvel’s superheroes, Seuss’s whimsical creations and classic cartoon icons.

Craving more excitement? We can arrange entrance passes for the Disney park of your choice (there are four to choose from) or the Kennedy Space Center, offering a fascinating insight into over 50 years of space exploration. This is a must-visit for any aspiring astronauts.

Sadly, your family adventure in Florida has come to an end. After one last breakfast at the hotel, drive three-and-a-half hours back to the airport in Miami and drop off your hire car. Breeze through security, unwind in the airport lounge and scroll through your holiday snaps before boarding your nine-hour flight back to the UK. Most flights depart in the late afternoon or evening, so you’ll travel overnight and touchdown on home ground the next day.
