Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Passports at the ready: your Icelandic adventure begins today. Head to the airport, whizz through security and enjoy some downtime in the lounge before boarding the three-hour flight to Reykjavik.

When you touch down, you’ll be met and whisked to your centrally located hotel, where you’ll be staying for the next three nights. Unpack, freshen up and spend the rest of the day settling into your new surroundings, whether you’d rather stroll along the city streets or simply cosy up with a good book in hand.

This evening, it’s time to (hopefully) tick off one of Iceland’s most iconic experiences: seeing the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights can be elusive, so to give you the best chance of spotting this natural wonder, you’ll be heading out with an experienced photographer, who’ll lead you to carefully selected locations known for fantastic viewing conditions, and help you to capture them in all their glory. Lights, camera, action – literally…

Rise bright and early this morning, as you’re heading out on an epic tour of Iceland’s iconic Golden Circle.

After a fuelling breakfast, meet your friendly driver-guide for the journey to Thingvellir National Park. Surrounded by towering mountains, the park is home to the Skjaldbreidur volcano dome, Thingvallavatn Lake and, of course, the legendary Mid-Atlantic Rift – one of the few places in the world where you can walk between continents.

Next, head to Laugarvatn Fontana. Here, you’ll have the chance to visit a geothermal bakery, where bread is baked underground using heat generated by geysers, and taste the still-warm and slightly sweet loaves.

Continue to Laugaras Lagoon, a geothermal pool where you can take a dip and enjoy a drink, before heading to Fridheimar Tomato Farm for a tasty lunch. The tour ends with a sequence of bucket-list landmarks: the Strokkur geyser, the Gullfoss Waterfall and Kerio Crater. Talk about a stellar line-up.

Gear up for another adventure this morning as you’re collected and whisked away to Solheimajokull Glacier, a two-hour drive away. Once here, meet your expert guide, gear up and enjoy a quick safety briefing before heading off on a scenic glacier walk.

As you wander through this frozen wonderland, soak up the incredible shapes and colours, ranging from crystal clear to electric blue, as you learn all about Iceland’s glaciers from your guide. You’ll then have the chance to visit other nearby landmarks, including the jaw-dropping Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls.

After you’ve been suitably wowed (and snapped enough sparkling shots to fill a holiday album), it’s time to head back to Reykjavik. Back at your hotel, swap your woolly gloves for your glad rags and head out for a tasty dinner in the city – our clued-up Concierge is on hand to recommend some local spots.

After your brief (but beautiful) stay in the capital, it's time to head north to the Icelandic wilderness. This morning, you’ll be privately transferred ten minutes to the city’s domestic airport to catch the short 45-minute flight to Akureyri.

When you land, you’ll be met and privately transferred to the beautiful Deplar Farm lodge, a 90-minute drive away, in a comfortable 4x4. This renowned adventure lodge is the perfect place to step away from your screens: think panoramic views over snow-capped mountains, a fully-stocked spa and a variety of adrenaline-inducing activities.

When you arrive, enjoy a late lunch and a tour of the lodge before sitting down with your specialist guide to discuss your plans for the next few days. Spend the afternoon soaking in your new surroundings and paying a visit to the spa before a delicious dinner and a good night’s sleep, ready for the real excitement to begin tomorrow.

Thrill-seekers, you’re in luck: the next two days are all about adventure.

Fancy getting out on the water? Head out on a whale-watching cruise with an expert guide, keeping your eyes peeled for these majestic creatures as they cut through the sparkling water. Prefer to dive in yourself? Grab an extra-thick wetsuit and try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding, surfing or sea kayaking.

Back on land, head out on foot or fat bikes to soak in the scenery. If it’s snowy activities you’re after, Deplar Farm’s got you covered (although it’s best to visit later in the season, when the snow has had a chance to settle). These postcard-perfect glacial landscapes are the ideal setting for snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, all led by knowledgeable staff.

When you’re not out in the crisp winter air, warm up in the lodge’s spa, sauna or geothermal infinity pool. Evenings here are best spent enjoying delicious dinners by the fire, watching cosy films in the lounge or wrapping up in a blanket to catch sight of the Northern Lights. Winter doesn’t come much cosier than this.

It’s sadly time to wave goodbye to Deplar Farm, but don’t worry: the luxury isn’t over yet.

This morning, enjoy one last serene breakfast before you’re privately transferred to Akureyri for the 45-minute flight back to Reykjavik. From here, it’s another private transfer (lucky you) to the impossibly glamorous Blue Lagoon Retreat, where you’ll be staying the night.

You might have seen pictures of this iconic geothermal wonder-turned-spa, but it truly has to be seen to be believed. Set in a sprawling lava field, the electric blue lagoon gets its colour from silica and minerals, and you’ll spend the rest of the day soaking in its sparkling waters, indulging in relaxing treatments and toasting with ice-cold sparkling wine. Cheers to that…

Enjoy one last Icelandic morning before grabbing your bags for the private transfer back to Reykjavik airport, a 25-minute drive away.

After a final warming coffee in the lounge, board your three-hour flight back to the UK. Be warned: you may have shaken the winter blues, but a glacial getaway might now become a yearly occurrence…
