Having breezed through security, slip away to the lounge for some complimentary fizz before take-off. Your connecting flight to Nadi, on Viti Levu, takes just over a day, so there’ll be nothing left to do but kick back, order up some nibbles and... relax.
Because of the time difference, you’ll land two days after taking off, ready to jump in a car for the private transfer to your hotel. Once you arrive, check in for two nights, drop your bags and freshen up – island life awaits.
If you’re tired from your travels, shake off the jet lag and revitalise with a fruity cocktail this afternoon; but, if you’re raring to go, set off hand in hand to explore the nearby Garden of the Sleeping Giant, weaving through lily ponds and orchids. Dreamy.
Tuck into a vibrant spread at breakfast this morning, before heading out for the day. SPF lathered and sunglasses poised – it’s time to explore Viti Levu.
The largest of the Fijian islands, Viti Levu translates (fittingly) to ‘Big Fiji.’ It spans 4,026 sq miles and is dominated by Mount Tomanivi, the highest point in the archipelago. So, to give you a better chance at seeing as much of the island as possible, you’ll be armed with a trusty hire car.
There are a multitude of stunning sites to see today, but we recommend making a beeline for Sigatoka National Park. Perched on the Coral Coast, this lunar-like landscape covers 1.6 miles, boasting sand dunes as tall as 197ft and an array of resilient fauna and flora.
Roam around this otherworldly park before heading back to your hotel this afternoon, ready to freshen up before dinner. Let’s dig in.
Rise and shine – your second island paradise awaits. Check out and buckle up for the drive to Nadi this morning, where you’ll return your hire car and fly to the island of Taveuni, an hour and 20 minutes away.
After landing, you’ll be privately transferred to Taveuni’s shores, where you’ll swap the road for the water and push off in a boat towards your next hotel, 45 minutes away on Matangi Island. You’ll be spending the next three nights here, so take some time to unpack and settle in.
Wedged between a tropical forest and a stretch of white-sand beach, you’re in the perfect place to dial up the remote R&R this afternoon. That said, if you’re seeking some adventure, you could also opt for snorkelling, kayaking, volleyball or even a cookery class. The world – by which we mean Matangi – is your oyster.
Wake up to the sounds of distant bird calls and waves lapping the shore this morning. Then, once you’ve fuelled up on a fantastically fresh breakfast, step out into the sun to kick off your first full day in Matangi.
Those keen to rack up some serious step counts can embark on a hike to Bouma National Heritage Park. Opened in 1990, this sprawling park covers over a third of the island and encompasses a striking variety of landscapes. One of the showstoppers here is Lake Tagimoucia, a flower-fringed crater lake nestled in the mountains.
Another must-see today are the Bouma Waterfalls, the tallest of which is 78ft high. As a bonus, at the base of each waterfall, you’ll find refreshing natural pools that simply demand you take a dip. Budding birdwatchers are also likely to enjoy the vibrant feathered species tucked away here – eyes peeled.
Before kicking off the third leg of your loved-up escape, round out your time in Matangi with a day at a cove that regularly appears on lists of places you need to see in your lifetime. Promising, to say the least.
After sailing to this remote gem in a traditional boat, perch up in a beachside bure (a traditional Fijian wood-and-straw hut) to tuck into a tasty pre-prepared lunch, washed down with a bottle of top-tier wine. Yum.
Before – or after – your feast, you could also mask up and wade into the water for a spot of snorkelling, take a nap in a hammock or lie on the sand to bask in the sun. Just don’t be surprised if you find yourselves hoping the hotel forgets to pick you up this afternoon...
Another day, another unforgettable Fijian island. Bid the shores of Matangi a fond farewell this morning as you and your partner cross over to Taveuni for your flight back to Nadi, an hour-and-20-minute journey away.
After landing, you’ll be privately transferred to the Denarau Marina for a catamaran crossing to Mamanuca. With your hair blowing in the wind, take a few snaps to send to friends and family back home. Warning: may induce jealousy.
Dock and depart before heading to your hotel to check in for the next four nights. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to do as you please. Kayaking, paddleboarding and diving are all on offer, as well as volleyball and (of course) sunbathing.
