Umaid Bhawan
Perched high above the desert capital of Jodhpur, the palace offers guests a taste of royal living, once only available to kings and princes.
Set in 26 acres of gardens, it has a commanding view of the 'blue city' of Jodhpur. Designed by famed Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, it took 15 years to build, and in 1943 when it was completed, it was a 347 room palace.
Now, the rooms and suites in the hotel part of the building are decorated with lavish furnishings which retain the art deco style.
The hotel has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a Taj Signature Spa.
