Croatia has one of the most outstanding stretches of coastline in the world, with myriad islands and a warm Mediterranean climate. Sea kayak from cove to cove, eat al fresco on the beach, and stay in the stunning walled city of Dubrovnik.

Visitors have long been enchanted by the beautiful medieval city of Dubrovnik, which was recently awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Fully restored to its former glory, this Adriatic gem is one reason Conde Nast Traveller has voted Croatia ‘the 21st century destination’.

Stay in Villa Dubrovnik, which overlooks the walls of the city, and has fine views across to Lokrum Island. The Elaphiti Islands, forming part of the Dalmatian Coast, run in a chain parallel to the mainland and boast an ideal sea kayaking environment, complete with inlets, caves and harbours, as well as seaside restaurants serving delicious fresh seafood. On the island of Lopud, stay at the Villa Vilina or the Hotel Glavovic, charming family-run hotels set on the horseshoe-shaped bay.

Most of the islands are densely wooded, and the calm waters between them are crystal clear and teeming with fish. Sea kayaking is a serene and graceful way to visit the various islands hugging the coastline, and with the help of an English-speaking guide, paddling is very easy to learn.
