Widely considered one of the world’s greatest ski resorts, St. Anton am Arlberg is the cradle of alpine skiing. It was here that Hannes Schneider developed modern skiing techniques and began teaching people how to ski in 1907. In 1928, the famous Kandahar ski race was held for the first time.

Situated on the eastern side of the Arlberg massif, with peaks that rise to 2,745m (9,000-ft.), the old village of St. Anton has evolved into a modern resort, luring skiers from far and wide with its vast network of lifts, miles of runs and a world-renowned ski school.

The resort itself is compact, with a pedestrianised main street, and has a very lively après-ski scene. Not the best resort for beginners, the skiing ranges from intermediate level to seriously challenging. St. Anton is particularly famous for the excellent off-piste afforded by its powder bowls. There are plenty of facilities to keep snowboarders happy too.

The Arlberg ski pass links St. Anton to the neighbouring resorts of Lech and Zürs, creating one of the most extensive ski areas in the Alps. The resort has an excellent record for snow reliability, and undoubtedly offers some of the finest skiing in the Alps.

Stay at the Hotel Kertess, a four-star, family-run hotel in a quiet residential area of the resort, or at the five-star St. Antonerhof in the historic centre of St. Anton.
