The Guardian Travel Awards 2012

The Guardian Travel Awards 2012

Having won previous Guardian Travel Awards, it was with a certain level of excitement and anticipation that Alastair Poulain (co-founder of Original Travel) set off for this year's ceremony in Ghent. Thanks to all the work and effort put in by the whole Original Travel team he was not let down! We won not one, but two awards, and both with a score of 100%!

Best Small Tour Operator: Original Travel

We scored a perfect 100% - incredible! In the words of The Guardian... ""When Original Travel launched in 2003 it was initially focusing on big short break, action-packed weekends for the time-poor. Since then it has acquired Tim Best Travel (in 2009) and Simoon Travel (in 2012) and created an innovative worldwide long-haul portfolio offering bespoke trips for honeymooners, families and adventurers."" Following up the award with such kind words: ""A thoroughly deserved award for a creative, enthusiastic, knowledgeable team who regularly blog about their travels, adding a personal touch to their expert advice""

Best Small Short Break Operator: Original Travel

Once again we managed to score a perfect 100%, with The Guardian having the following to say ""...picking up more than one award - Original Travel, who started out as short break specialists, offering action-packed weekends score another 100%"".
