As the capital city of England we understand that London can be an expensive place to visit. Therefore the team at Original Travel UK want to share our top tips for making the most of your time in London whilst sticking to your budget.

Local Knowledge

Having a Blue Badge Guide for just a half day will truly enhance your time in London. The cost of the guide remains the same no matter how large your group. Their wealth of local knowledge and experience will give you real focus hence maximising your time which is especially important when travelling with children. They help tie in each different London attraction and explain the intricate history of this bustling city. We know notable specialists or perfect family-friendly guides so we can match you with the best ones to further enrich your trip. Make the most of your time with your guide and feel free to ask them for advice on what to do for the rest of your trip.

London Sights

London has more free attractions than any other capital city - from world class museums with no ticketed admission, Royal parks to foodie markets galore. As part of your overall programme we are happy to suggest free excursions to suit any interests. Our perfect day of exploration in London would begin with a mooch around the Victoria & Albert Museum before heading over to Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guard ceremony. Hop in a taxi to Borough Market for some culinary delights, walk along the South Bank and then wile away the afternoon at the fabulous Tate Modern.

Transport

If your budget doesn't stretch to a private driver in the city let us purchase a London Travel Card for the entirety of your stay. This works on both the Underground & England's famous double-decker red buses. Our favourite route is the No. 15 bus which heads from Tower of London to Charing Cross past St Paul's Cathedral - children love sitting on the top deck and it's perfect for sightseeing! If you prefer to beat the traffic and see the landmarks of London from a different perspective, hop on a Thames Clipper, these are fast river boats running daily between Greenwich and Embankment. Of course, no trip would be complete without meeting a famous London cabbie!

Accomodation

It doesn't always have to be 5*! We can offer special Original Travel UK amenities at some of our favourite 4*hotels. We also know the best hotels with 'double double' family rooms or smaller more boutique hotels in less touristy areas. We also have a lovely apartment portfolio up our sleeves - whether you need to be in Central London or would prefer a more 'live like a local' experience, we know where all the best hidden gems are.

Day Trips

Enjoy a day trip to historic cities such as Bath or Oxford - why not catch a direct train to these cities from Central London and meet a local guide once you arrive. These local guides can then take you on a half day orientation walking tour showing you the best of these stunning cities before leaving you to explore (or shop!) the afternoon away before catching your train back to London in the evening.
